Coupe vs Convertible

You do know the convertibles have AC too?
I'd buy a coupe for the track. For recreational driving enjoyment, top down cruising simply can't be beat.
Cheers,
JB

my last coupe was a 1986, the last three have been convertibles. i only drive for pleasure, so the top is almost always down. its also commonplace for me to either have the heat on low, or the ac on high to extend driving season.

All 4 of my Corvettes have been convertibles and I have loved them all.
I personally like the looks of a C6 vert and love driving with the top down. On a cool star filled night its great to ride with the top down and the heat on your feet. Having said that if I ever buy another Vet I do believe I will try a coupe and then I can decide which one I like best. Good luck with your decision.

Bought my first vert ever, a 427 and have been having a blast ever since! I never thought I would own a vert, but love the open air feeling and classic styling of the Corvette 427.
I'm use to the wind from driving Harley's for so long, only the 427 is a much more luxurious ride, and the winshield keeps you in the pocket. I haven't had the top up since I bought it (Sunny California) a month ago!
If I ever upgrade to newer Corvette, it will be another vert!
Drive what you like!

That's true but sometimes you think you might like something until you have. My first was a '66 Roadster....and that's the last time I'd ever want one with a drop top!

When I started hunting for a vette, I was decided on convertible.
After test driving both, I went for the coupe.
It's a feel thing more than anything else, and less noise.
I still think verts are stunning with the top down, but prefer the looks of a coupe than a vert with the top up.
And the added bonus with the coupe....... it's a vert too:

I have now been driving vettes for 52 years since I bought my first one when I was 17.
20 of the 25 I have owned have been converts. The last time I bought a coupe was in 1984 which was replaced by a 86 pace car convert when they started producing converts again after those 10 dark years with only coupes.
If you are buying the car to track it then by a coupe otherwise go with the convert. The difference between the two is day and night and the convert is so much quieter with the top up than the coupe. I live in Tucson and if the temps are over 100 I put the top up and enjoy the AC but otherwise the top is down, sometimes for 2-3 months at a time.
The coupe with the top off is much more like a car with a sunroof and not even remotely similar to the feel of a convert with the top down.

When I want "quiet" I'm driving one of the other vehicles in the driveway or garages. Sidenote.....when you're to the point of saying a vert is quieter than a coupe or the other way around it's clear you don't have the right mods and exhaust!

Just bought my first c6 Vert......after owning two c6 coupes....LOVE THEM ALL!
But the Vert seems more "classy" to me...I feel like it is a true luxury car and am happy I went with a Vert this time as I always had the top off on both of the prior coupes.
Bottom line is they are BOTH great cars! Choose your flavor!

It all boils down to personal preference. I’ve always preferred a coupe. I like the way it looks, the extra cargo space, the comfort of the enclosed cockpit and the extra security. It’s what you like that counts.

We find the vert-with-top-up to be quieter than the coupe. And if you search this forum you will find that to be the widely stated comparison by owners of both (and yes, i'm sure you can find some that don't agree).
The vert has the back end of the car boxed off by the trunk, improving the shielding the cabin from road noises.
I have many reasons for going with the vert, but there are two main ones:
First, I very much like getting the top down and stored by pushing a button without getting out of the car.
Second, I am a "vert guy", and so is my wife. We own two convertibles, so neither of us has to go without.

As I continue my search for a C6, I keep oscillating back and forth between the two models. I have owned both types of cars...my 60 and 63 were convertibles and my 77 was a t top coupe. Both of my E Types are rdstrs. For me, I enjoy the open air feeling of the convertible over the open roof coupes. I don't think that they are the same driving experience. However, as I get older, I find myself using the a/c more and more often and the top down driving less often. Also, as I have sat in both cars, there is a lot more usable room in the coupe. So, I tend to think that I am leaning towards the coupe at the this time. Maybe I'm just getting old but the coupe tends to make more sense right now. Anyone else have similar feelings towards the coupe vs convertible issue?
