Thanks to everyone for the advice and insight. We pulled the trigger yesterday and bought...

The GS coupe that was here in CA. It was a 130 mi drive, but MAN the trip home was great!

Ultimately the GS performance and $2K shipping savings were more important to me than the nifty bells and whistles on the base coupe back East. Now to find a paint color that resembles the ZR-1 blue for the calipers. Then the HUD, then maybe some black wheels.

It's gonna be a fun year!

The paint color for the ZR1 calipers is called 'Wave Blue'. GM dealers should sell it but I bet it won't be cheap. I'm sure we also have some forum vendors on here that could hook you up.

Pinky, you're right. Also, I hadn't noticed that the "Corvette" on the calipers is a stencil kinda thing, and it won't look right if I try to do that myself. Soooooo, Mike the powdercoater has another customer!
