Default Alarm going off

I've had my '13 coupe about 4 months and about a week ago it started to sound the horn about once a day for approx 30 seconds. It shuts itself off and does not happen again for another day or so. This only happens when the car is parked and locked. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

Is there a fob in your pocket when it happens? I set off the alarm fairly often when the alarm button on the fob inadvertently gets pushed whilst in my pocket. Even when I'm a distance away inside my house. If all the fobs are safely stored away when it happens, you have a different problem.

I experimented about a year ago, and managed to set off the alarm from inside my house with the fob in my pocket by repeatedly bending and sitting. I have a couple of keys and several customer card thingies on the fob keychain. Apparently I managed to hit the alarm button with one of those.

Dealer? The fob has a button to set off the alarm. If you are inadvertently pushing that button everything is working as designed.

Can the alarm button be disconnected in the fob? Alternately, is there a labeled fuse I can pull if the fob is not the problem?

Rereading you say it happened with the FOB sitting on the counter. That would indicate an issue. Sit in the car with engine running and in gear. Push on doors and see if the door ajar light comes on. Repeat pushing on the hatch. That could narrow it down to a specific switch slightly misadjusted.

HINT: buy two different colors so you can tell FOB 1 from FOB 2

Thanks guys for the advice. Will check the doors and hatch and pick up the fob covers. Didn't know they had such a thing.

Hey Don, That leather fob cover looks great. Could you advise where to pick it up? thanks in advance.

In addition to the jacket, I cut a thin but fairly stiff piece of plastic to slip in there to cover the buttons. Punched small holes (before install!) to allow using the buttons with the tip of a ball point pen.

Now my alarm goes off maybe once a month, instead of once every day.
