Good luck this weekend. You will certainly need it !
FYI - for comparison, I sold my '08 in December for 29K It had 25,000 miles and mods bringing the hp to about 630. Forget the mods though, someone just got extras for the money.
I think the LS3 is worth it. You should be able to get a better deal than the current offers.
All the best ! I hope you and your wife pull the trigger soon and start enjoying

Yep, exactly - and thats what i was saying, too.
Not a problem ... just a clarification intended to help out the prospective buyer.
I know from recent first-hand experience how tough it is to decide when to yell "Pull" for the first-ever vette after wanting it for decades. I know how confusing all this is, and how the comparisons are seldom straight forward. I shopped for over nearly 18 months, to get to the point I understood what was what, and what all the acronyms, slang, and jargon meant; and what I really valued most.
And then I bought the one that best met that criteria, and I didn't worry about the fact that people on this forum would likely say I over-paid. I hope the original opinion seeker here is as permanently excited and happy as I am once he gets to the final decision point.

definitely #1 with 13k miles. You'll wish you had come trade in time(future), if it's pleasure use only and you limit your annual mileage that you put on the car. Low mileage vettes bring the money, regardless what anyone tells you.
Just to give you a comparison, when I bought my 05 Silver Z51 6 spd manual vert 5 months ago with 9400 miles I paid $32,900.
#1 is priced right! good luck

I would keep looking, I would not want to spend that money on a Vette that is 7 years old, nor would I want a used Vette with 43k on it.

If these are the only two you want and are not wanting or have already look at others, it comes down to do you want the options as it sounds like the '06 is a 3LT and the '08 is a 1LT.
I have an '07 3LT and when I was looking I wanted an LS3 over the LS2, but after driving both, I could not see any real difference. So because the lower mileage is on '06 and it is a 3LT I would most likely go with that over the '08.
The paint is actually Monterey Red Metallic and with a coat of wax and the sun on it the paint just pops. I have received more compliments on my '07 with that color then I did with my Torch Red '01. That color was only available in late '05 through '07.
Finally, you mentioned none GS. If your are referring to the Grand Sport, that was a given as the Grand Sport was not introduced until the 2010 model year.

With the new "Stingrays" coming onto the scene, I've got to imagine there will be more C6's available, so the shopping around idea has some merit. However, if you plan to own the car for a while, does it make sense to miss out on something you really want because of a thousand here or there? Spread over the course of 5 years a couple of thousand doens't really seem like much. You might want to prioritize your "needs" for the car. What's most important to least important...color, miles equipment, horsepower, year, etc.

Thats the fun of shopping for a used Corvette. You will know when you find the right car for you. I would keep looking if it was me. I looked for a year for a JSB black top convertible. Found an 08 3lt 5000 mi perfect car last summer with a 6 sp. I knew instantly it was for me. We then negotiated for a month until the dealer and I were both happy. I looked at other nice C6's but something was always not quite right and I am so glad I did not rush my decision. Good luck and have fun looking.

I would buy the newer lower cost more power car. The low mile car is on the verge of having too few miles. Not sure why people are so enamored over low miles but they can be real problem children since they weren't driven enough to get their bugs fixed while under warranty. 13K miles over 7 years means the car sat around a lot. That in itself can cause issues since all cars are designed to be driven not sit. Seals go bad and that can affect things like the AC which should be used all of the time, transmission, engine, etc. The best way to take care of any car is to drive it regularly.

I'd try looking at www.usedcorvettesforsale.com and www.carguru.com. You can search by year or location. You can also check prices of comparable cars. The best advice is always to buy the newest you can afford but options do make a difference. Since this is your first vette, you may not miss the heated seats, nav, etc, but I think they are nice to have so I might be drawn to the 06 with the lesser mileage. I have owned both the LS2 and LS3 and found little difference. It maybe the way I drive. JMO

Since you asked for an "opinion" I guess I'll have to give you mine. The "maroon" car is actually Monterey Red and you will get more "what a beautiful car" comments than ever than a silver car. As to the LS3 vs the LS2 remember, a LS2 with a CAI runs about the same as a stock LS3. There is a difference but it isn't as big as you'd think. Plus, the lower miles counts for a lot. Finally, they're both over priced, but, since I have a 2006 I can tell you the dealer is making at least 11grand on that, so I'd negotiate. Good luck!

Right on.
Since when a Corvette (at what they cost new) stops working or being worth anything past 10k miles???
I bought a 43k miles vette that went through every recall, unabused and moderately driven by an older lady, the car feels, looks and almost still smells like new.
With all the records and a thorough check up and test drive, I would have no issue buying that 08 with what I consider to be still a low mileage despite all you will hear from "collectors" here and elsewhere.
Of course, if you can shave a grand or two off the asking price, more power to you!

Get the 2008 because it's more then just HP.It's also a newer tranny that shifts better the the LS2 one,it's the actual motor upgrades internally as well. BETTER warranty i.e. powertrain to 100k if there's any left on it wheres THE 06 has nothing. There was no GS in 2008 that I know of by the way.

Thanks everyone, I love this forum, wife and I read all the comments last night and im going to look this weekend. But im still looking around. My wife who use to hate Vetts is in a bigger rush then me, I believe she think that Im buying her a Vett. As for the GS it was just a brain freeze and as for the color to me all colors are just beautiful. I'll update.

The more options the better. No big deal about a stripped down 2008 with that level of miles. Just proves that somebody wanted a nice enough car but got cheap with the options. Besides, take the '06, spend $500 on carbon fiber replacements for the titanium inside trim and you have an almost 2008 but with more options! If this is your first C6 you will not be able to tell 400hp from 436hp!
Color is also a choice....no silver for me, ever! The maroon looks good.
