Default Record heat.. 112F outside ( San Antonio Tx )

With this crazy heat past few days I noticed my 2005 Corvette running at 235-240F, once I hit highway it would drop to 220-225... Is this normal? I have not driven this car in that kinda heat... I know those in Az and Vegas see 120-130F what are you doing beside staying inside

I haven't noticed any change and I drove when it was 119,I believe Sat., mine is a 2010 GS.

I didn't think it was so terribly hot,but you know the news media, they talk to us in a condescending way, like we don't know to drink a lot of water. Of course as they say here, its a dry heat. It will be miserable when the monsoon arrives and I believe its here now. It always takes high heat at the end of June to bring on the monsoon. So,it won't be dry until the middle of Sept.

I think if you're concerned about running a little hot, bring it in and have someone check it out.

My confusion was if this running a little hot was due to an underlying engine issue or the heat outside.Vararam intake didn't like that hot air.

Im here in Vegas and I rarely see coolant temps over 215° in traffic with ac on. When its this hot outside (116 today) I'm around 205° at hwy speed.

Will be in Vegas for the 4th and UFC162 so hoping the triple digits hold up. Although it's in the low 90's here in Seattle, I'm looking forward to the extreme desert heat for a couple days

Report back after you've been there a few days...

After 109 here Saturday, I took the dog for a walk yesterday and 95 felt cool!

Default I am in San Antonio as well - how about engine heat soak and hood paint damage?

Very good question. I did not drive the car on Saturday - was in the garage, dying as I was washing, polishing. At least the polish and wax flowed nicely!

I am a little north of you but my coolant temps hit 221 last Fri in traffic...highest ever since I bought my '08 new. I'm old school and don't like coolant temps over 200. Am considering a 160 deg thermostat...

P.S. We have a little higher humidity/dew point here in TX than you guys in AZ or NV which may account for the slightly higher temps.

Spent Saturday on the race track at the Streets of Willow (part of Willow Springs in Rosamond, CA). 116* air temps. Coolant temps were around 240* at the end of each session. The car ran like a champ

Coolant temps were a leisurely 195* during the 80 mile drive back to LA at roughly 80mph with the a/c on.

I have owned mine 4 years never seen it above 225 max, drove all yesterday and today never went over 220... Might put a 160 as stated above bc our factory one doesn't fully open till well above 220
