Default Hood insulator gash

Have small gash in hood insulator (1"x2"). I know alot of you have removed the insulator all together. I'm inclined to try to repair, if possible. If not, just leave as is.

Any suggestions on a repair technique?

Get some cotton *****. Shred them. Paint them black. Use 2 part epoxy. Mix the black shredded cotton ***** into the epoxy and apply to the gash. Good Luck.
