Default Is this really the Sunshine state????

Been reading some other posts regarding driving your vettes in the rain. Seems like the Florida "sunshine state" here is nothing of the sort. Rain EVERY day & heavy. I haven't seen this much in the past 4.5 yrs of living here. I got caught in it again today, came home, washed the car and it's supposed to rain all weekend and all flipping next week too.!!!!! I can't win!!

I grew up in South Florida. Sunshine state only applied in the winter/dry season. In summer it rained every damn day in the afternoon. Unless it rained all day.

Don't feel alone, there was just a graph in today's paper that since April 1 there have only been 22 days without at least a slight amount of rain. From what I've seen, this has been a weird weather year on pretty much of the eastern half of the country. In fact, with the tornadoes in the Midwest and the hail in Texas, a weird year everywhere. I don't have any issues driving my Vette in the rain, if I'm out and it rains, no problem, but usually if it's nice and clean and it's raining, I leave it in the garage, if for no other reason than I don't want to clean it again.

I'd gladly trade you our crappy Pacific NW weather here from November to April. Pretty much grey and wet most days. Don't see very many Vettes on the road.

I don't mind the daily rains too bad in the vette, but it did convince me to sell my motorcycle, it was a lot harder to keep clean. I just hit the local car wash once a week, and keep on driving with the vette.

I probably brought the rains to my area for the past couple of years, I'm trying to get some larger roof projects completed, and this rain is making it impossible to get them done in a timely manner.

My gauge has registered 11.5" in the past week. I'm close enough to the Gulf that it doesn't normally rain here during the day because of the sea breeze. The rain normally starts about 5 miles inland. But this month has been brutal. Doesn't stop me from driving. In fact I like driving the C6 in the rain because it is amazing how well the nannies work if you give them a chance by not doing things that are totally insane.

I've lived in Palm Beach County Florida, for 18 years now. In upstate New York for 20 years before that.

After dealing with an average of 12 feet of snow between November, and March, (not to mention ice storms), the daily rains in Florida, are a piece of cake.

Still, it has been annoying for the past 8 or 9 days, that I haven't driven my 'vette, because of the heavy daily rains. The forecast for today, tonight, and all day tomorrow, is "Rain, heavy at times".

BUT, from Dec, through March, the temps are in the upper 50s to low 60s at night, and the low to mid 70s during the day. Months of rainless, clear blue skies, and sunshine, make the summers worthwhile.

If it were not for the rain, Florida would be like Arizona - 115 in the shade. Hot enough as it is. Maybe you should move there?

No just that time of year. Been here since 1968 and it seems to be the norm for the summer months. Oh sure we have had years that were not real wet, but once we start with the rain, it is hard for it to stop.

I know tomorrow is suppose to be a wash out due to the remains of the tropical storm, but then again I have seen the weather people miss their forecast completely.

Default HAIL - you say :)

How about doging the HAIL the other day in Michigan?? -- on the way home from work was able to just slide my 12 GS with the roof off under a freeway overpass. -- HAIL was quarter size for about 5 minutes. I work 55 miles from home. NOT a good drive home, almost 2 hours.

Just because California is financially, and morally bankrupt, is no reason to "slam" it, or call it the "Left Coast".

Wait, I think this belongs in PR&C sorry. Back to Florida weather...

I've just been driving mine in the rain this week. I'll wash it this evening.

The "sunshine" thing is just marketing. Florida is warm, but not that sunny. Arizona is sunny.
