I agree forums basically get negative comments. Many times you have to be motivated by something or mad to post.
AND we just bought a new washer dryer......... Sales person said let me bring up the reviews........ I said don't bother. Same model washer........... some folks it 5 star best thing since slice bread......... others it's crap.
How can that be???
Some folks are too dumb to operate one, some others got a lemon. Lemons exist in everything. Products, people, relationships........
Haaa! So true - I have a 13 GS and except for some dingbat assembler probably hitting up Bob Marley, my car is fine - same issue twice in two weeks, but I put that down to one sloppy putz. I had a 2011' 535XI with more problems in 6 months than my Tahoe in 7 years. Luck of the draw I guess, but Vette's are higher rated from what I read, and with a fairly expansive service network and relatively reasonably priced parts, a decent bet against the imports. Build of cars are likely complicated, I would expect some ****ling issues, but if I ended up with a giant turd its gonna make me mad.

My 13 was a pile out of the factory. Alignment bad, different color brake calipers, carpet not lined up, rear driver side targa top holder loose and floppy, rear bin doors don't close flush, both headlights crazed (cracked internally), driver seat doesn't look mounted "level", battery leaking acid out of the caps, had neon green spray from A/C on hood liner, window trim oxidized, glove box handle rattles annoyingly.
Bought it with 7 miles on it. 4,300 now.
Luckily the engine was built in Mexico.

My 2006 had the roof issue, and the rear end chatter, both issues resolved. My 2010 GS had an oil pan gasket replaced. My current 2013 ZO6 has had 2 windshield cowls replaced. Nothing major and all the issues were resolved quite easily.

I hardly think anyone would intentionally spend 50-60k knowing there were that many problems. Lording it over the poster is just not cool...

Harmonic balancers have been a problem that tend to fail early on in the engine's life. My OEM balancer chirped like a drunk canary at 3,000, but the replacement (also OEM) was going strong at 24K.

I've had my '12 Coupe for a little over 9 months and have just about 6000 miles on it. The only problem I have (which is really no big deal) is that the passive lock does not open the drivers door. I have to use the remote unlock button. The passenger side works fine and both doors lock when walking away. It has been like this since day 1 and never bothered to take it to the dealer. Would be nice if it worked correctly though.
If you decide to head into the dealership let me know and I will help out where I can. Keep me posted

Dropped mine off at the dealer yesterday for the laundry list. All parts ordered without question and got a new loaner vehicle. Not even the dealer I bought it from either. So far so good. I am confident they will make it right.

Here's a possible dumb question: Would you say it would be a good idea to do an alignment straight away on a new base car, and can that pfadt alignement spec floating around apply to the base car or is it just the widebodys?

You'll have to find a non GM shop to align it different unless you pay the dealer yourself instead of warranty. Even then the dealer might not do it.
