Valet Gets In My Face After Refusing To Pay $20
Met some family at a nice French restaurant in Houston in the middle of the week. Parking lot was valet only with very few cars parked. I drive up and ask to self park - valet says ok. I then asked what the charge was, he said "tips only."
I self-park, valet then comes up to me and says "that'll be $20." I said you just told me it was tip only. He said, yea but you self-parked and that's a $20 fee. I told him "**** off," got in my car and parked in a nearby neighborhood.
I walk back up to the restaurant and the valet says "why you tell me to **** off." He then gets directly in my face and I manage to get into the restaurant where one of the waitresses blocked the valet from following me inside. Manager comes out, I explain, etc...
Leave the restaurant & valet is no longer working. Thank God my car had not been touched since he saw me where I was coming from.
Not sure there's a point to this story, just thought it was interesting to share.

What a jackazz. That's what you get for going to a French restaurant. Lol you should have gone out for some good ol' BBQ, that would not have happened and the food would have been better!!

Good for you - I would have been on pins and needles having my meal though, wondering what that valet 'could' have done to my car. Sometimes people behave like brats.

I kept looking outside while sitting at the table thinking the exact same thing. It wouldn't have surprised me if something would have happened to it.

I guess he did not care about the consequences of his actions.
He was WAY out of line. Probably just came from assertiveness training.
I thought this only happened in NY!

Priorities screwed up... He should have paid you for the privilege.
No one parks my car, checks the interior for something they need, or has the opportunity to make a spare key. Save up & buy your own !

On your post comment: Is it possible for the Federal Government to make a law outlawing the state law? I thought those things were state's rights.

I would have given him a $20 tip, & left my car in the parking lot. I self park my car all the time at the Indiana casinos, give them $20, & they always give me a nice, safe spot for my car. I give them a fob with no battery, since they require I leave a key.

I hate those little trendy dining options in Houston where they have their own parking lot but they take up 90% of it to valet. I don't want you to touch my car. I at least understand the usefulness if it's downtown or something and the parking garage is located elsewhere but come on....I don't mind walking across a parking lot.

Don''t have to worry about that in my area. No valet parking anywhere.

LOL. I'm such a sucker for people that ask for money, I'd probably give him $25 just to go away. Homeless people etc, see me coming from a mile away. I have sucker written on my forehead.

Around here, its called "hood" parking. The hoods will take it and you will find it parked a couple of weeks later...minus various an sundry items such as motor, transmission, stereo, seats.
