Trying to make up my mind
Hello,
I spoke with a few people on Camaro5 and they pointed me over here to find yalls opinion. I've at a cross roads right now on my next car purchase. I just recently sold my 2010 camaro ss and finances are now allowing me to get something else. Here's my choices. I can get a 2013 Mustang BOSS 302, a 2013 ZL1 or a 2013 Corvette GS.
I have a horrible case of the mod bug and can never leave well enough alone. If the Z06 were an option this choice would be much easier but it's not so here I am. My thoughts for the boss would be the hellion tt kit and exhaust and that would set right in the 800rwhp range. The ZL1 would go to ADM for their 750rwhp package and my plans for the GS would be cal speed stroker kit, LG full exhaust, LG 6XB cam and heads with procharger. I've pretty much talked myself out of the ZL1 since is so heavy. My main race is stright line (never had access to anything that turns) so please keep that in mind. Also I want to have the car ready in time for TX2K14 to play with them next year. For my goals and objectives what route do yall think I should be going? Also what kinda power would my parts list put down at the tires on the GS? Thanks in advance for your help.

I think you need more than 750whp to play at TX2k4
I also can't recall any mustangs doing very well, they might be there but they just aren't standing out to me at the moment

Why not buy a barely used Z06 (2010-2012) and build it up, since you plan on modding anyways. I personally love my 13' GS but I never think of it as a straight line care because of the weight and lack of additional power. For TX2k14 I figure the lighter you start the easier it would be to go fast. Good Luck and us know what you decide.

Have you been on cars.com or autotrader.com? Even here on the forum in the "C6's For Sale" forum there are some amazing deals on Z06s that were just garage queens. A beautiful used Z06 would be in the same price range as all those cars you listed, possibly even cheaper. Why buy new anyways, you're just going to mod the car and you can kiss your warranty goodbye. Go for a Z06 if you can, but If you can't I'd still go with the '13 GS. Of course, this is a Corvetteforum so we are all a little biased.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

I've considered this but I'm not sure of how the out of state tax stuff works with all that. I have been browsing the used c6 section on this form for months a seen some amazing deals come and go. And yall maybe right with a low mileage 10-12 Z06. With the same mood plan as the GS I should lay down some decent power and save a Lil weight. I don't know what a Z modded like that would run in the 1/4 but I've seen when the tt coyotes are in the 9s and better. But at the end even an 8 sec stang is still just a stang.

If you will be driving the car on the street a ton, the Vette wins hands down over a Mustang as far as driver (and passenger) comfort. I have had both and I just got back from a 3200 mile trip in my Vette and it's one of the most comfortable touring cars I have driven. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

I faced this dilemma since I like Fords over Chevys (too bad the Ford GT is not a viable option). Camaros, to me, are for kids and trailer parks. Mustangs are neat but not the ultimate American sports car that is the Corvette. Sounds like you can afford to go all the way to the top. I am very happy with my GS.

Camaro and Mustang both at 4,000# and a Vette in the 3,100-3,300# range and you still have a question??? It's HP to weight ratio and low man wins.

It looks to me like whatever you choose - you're going to have a good time!
Of course, we're biased here so I would go with the GS or a low miles Z06 as others have suggested.
Your mods will probably void the power-train warranty so you don't really get that much advantage buying new anyway.

Grand Sport wins!!!! I called my uncle this weekend and talked to him about what was going on and the choice I was trying to make. He has been a long time vette owner (Prolly 8-10 in his life) and was going over the pros and cons and then took me for a ride in his black 2012 GS. This makes the 2nd vette ive ever ridden in (a 12 Z06 and this one) the ride in his GS was much nicer than the Z. Anyway he is apperantly makimg the swap for the C7 and asked if I wanted to buy his. It a 12 GS with 5500 miles and its 100% bone stock with the 3LT package I think is what he said. Anyway simce im his only nephew that talks cars with him amd none of his daughter are into cars he is making me a screaming deal. Once his dealer gets a C7 hes supposed to call my uncle to buy it (long time friends). Then I get his GS for 38, 000. Looks like I'm gonna be part of the family before too long!!!
It won't make the power the Z would have made but I bet I can still squeeze 750rwhp out of it and it be easily streetable.

Cool car and cool deal that gives you the peace of mind knowing for sure the history of your vehicle. I wouldn't be too quick to start hopping it up. Get use to it. Those engineers are pretty smart guys. Take some of that mod money and go to Bondurant. Take uncle too: it will be a great road trip!
Congratulations and welcome.

It'll stay stock until I can afford to do the big stuff in chunks. 1st I'll save my pennies and do the A&A kit, the LTs and Corsa cat back, tune and few small things at once. Then I'll save up again to do the motor work. It'll stay stock for prolly another 3-5k miles before I can afford to play with it. My last car that I meantioned earlier was a modded SS that would eat a stock GS in a straight line, so I'm ready to at least be back to that point.

At 580 HP that advantage over the GS all but negates the weight difference with a good driver behind the wheel! I'd get the ZL1..and I have a GS!!The ZL1 'ain't no ordinary camaro"!
