South Florida C6 Insurance
Another thread regarding insurance inspired this thread, which is more specific to the state of Florida.
Those of us in Florida, especially the southern half of the state, are painfully aware of the higher premium rates we pay for both Homeowner, as well as Auto insurance.
I you own any C6, (2005 to 2013), and live in the southern half of Florida, I'd appreciate knowing what you're paying for Auto insurance for your 'vette. Later model 2010 to 2013 Grand Sports would be particularly helpful.
Just state the year of your C6.
Your county.
Indicate if you're carrying a full package of liability, property damage, collision, comprehensive, etc., or just partial coverage.
Tell me if your policy is based on 6 months, or 1 year.
And, of course, what is your premium cost.
I realize that there are many variables such as driving record, age, credit rating, prior accidents, location, deductible amounts, multiple car discounts, etc.
If you have that information, and wish to reveal it, that would be very helpful. If you wish to keep that info private, it's certainly understandable.
If enough south Floridians respond that will at least give me a ballpark idea. My own personal auto insurance has become expensive in recent years, as my company has been raising my rates, a little each year, even though I have no moving violations, or accidents in about 25 years.
I think it's time, I start shopping around again. When I went with Allstate about 7 years ago, they were the best rates for my needs. Now, I'm not so sure. Your input would be very helpful.
Here's my info...
Company Allstate
2013 Grand Sport
Palm Beach County
Full package policy, liability, comp. collision, etc.
6 month premium is $801.00, or $1,602.00 per year.
Thanks...

Saw a blurb on the news this morning that Miami is the worst driving city in the country, i.e., highest accident rate. It was followed by Philadelphia, Tampa, Baltimore, and another south Florida town.
So it makes sense that south Florida would have the highest rates. Must be all the oldsters that live there ....

Geico - 6 Months
2005
CHEV
CORVETTE
Total Vehicle Premium: $419.10 Full Coverage 500 deductibles comp\coll....
Not my Daily Driver, I have the lower yearly mileage factored in (I think it was 5000 miles a year)- I have 3 cars with them... it was the least of all the carriers I quoted, I was with State Farm for over 20 years and they were double. USAA was also considerable more for this car.
I am 43 years old - no ticket\accident history...

When I lived in SF my insurance was outragous. Now that I live up in WI it's really dirt cheap. I plan on moving back in a couple years so hopefully I'll keep a clean driving record. I was paying 200+ a month for my C5 with a clean driving record, up here i pay 63 a month on my C6 with a bruise on my driving record.

Again, thank you all for the responses.
If nothing else, this thread says, SHOP AROUND!!!
This morning I spoke with Nationwide, State Farm, GEICO, Liberty Mutual, and Hartford.
In each case I had my current Allstate policy in hand, to make certain that the quotes I got were identical to my current Allstate policy. The results were shocking.
My current policy for two cars, a 2011 Nissan Maxima, and a 2013 GS, with Allstate, cost $1,627.10 every 6 months.
Coverage as follows...
Liability 100k/300k
Property Damage 100k
PIP $5,000
Uninsured Motorist 100k/300k
Collision Deductible $500
Comprehensive Deductible none
Towing $50
Car rental $30 per day, 30 day max.
I just went with GEICO this morning.
I increased the Liability coverage to 300k/500k
I increased the Property Damage to $200k
Kept everything else the same, and GEICO's premium for 6 months is $991.93.
A savings of $635.17, every 6 months, or $1,270.34 per year!
The same multiple car discounts, high credit rating discount, no prior violations or accidents discounts apply with GEICO as with Allstate.
The other companies I called were also considerably less expensive than Allstate, but GEICO beat them all by $135.00 on the lowest quote of all the others. Their on-line website is very easy to navigate, and one of the most modern, and best equipped body shops in Palm Beach county is only 1.5 miles from my house, and is a GEICO Express preferred repair facility.
If like me, your premiums have been creeping up over the past number of years for no good reason, check out other carriers, the difference in premiums will amaze you!
Again, thanks everyone!

Not surprised by the end result.
I have not volunteered my info because my situation doesn't reflect what y'all are looking for, the "full coverage" and would have therefore not been very helpful with your inquiry.
In the 33 years that I have been driving over two continents and without a fender bender ever, I have always "gambled" on a reduced type of coverage, and as a result have saved more than enough to purchase a brand new vehicle with the difference.
The thing I don't gamble on is injury protection, medical bills can bankrupt you in one hospital day alone.
I have been with Geico for over 15 years now, with 3 vehicles insured, and the 6 months premium for my vette is $186.40.
I have a $200 deductible on comp. for every vehicle.
(Vette is not my DD)
BTW: 05 Z51 / Palm Beach County.
Congrats on your savings Ham!
