I had this issue one time and figured out my iPhone that was in the same pocket as my key was the problem. Just something to consider.

Action step 1 says get rid of the cell phone and other gear from the area to check the FOB. I've heard guys mention that the phone and the FOB in the same pocket can be an issue.

Interesting...

You're saying that a truck FOB in the same pocket as the Vette FOB will cause a "No Fob" message on the Vette DIC? Is that correct?

Ok, because of this information, I have updated the checklist to include the instruction to remove FOBs for other vehicles during the testing.

Thanks for the feedback.

You got it! Plus there is a compartment in the glovebox if I am remembering correctly where you can insert the FOB if the Fob battery is dead.

Yes the glovebox slot will "amplify" the fob to start the car IF it lets you in the door.

That's why the key is used to get in, the slot is used to start and then you can get your butt to the store to replace the battery in the FOB!

Thanks, fob battery went dead, had to use 2nd fob. Replaced battery and stuck in slot in glove compartment and lights blinked and fob is back! Pushing both top buttons didn't work like on the C-5. Slot reset my fob, didn't recognize it with new battery until I put it in there.

I believe this is a very valid statement. I did this with cheapo batteries on another car once, couldn't work out why the fob wouldn't work, even changed the batts again still no good. Put the old batteries back in and it worked again. Buy good name brand.

Default Locked out

On Sunday I went to reconnect the battery tender to my 05 Vette after being off for a week. When I tried to open the door nothing happened so I tried to open the hatch, still nothing. Pissed but not deterred I decided to open the hatch with the key but the key would not go into the lock (I have not used the key before this). Panic set in! After a few minutes I tried the fob again, this time it worked and I was able to get into the car, but this doesn't explain the key issue. Any suggestions?

UPDATE TUESDAY - CANNOT GET INTO TH CAR AGAIN! I'm going to get new batteries.

Interesting, I actually have never tried my actual key. I guess it is a good idea to at least insert each key and make sure they work before you have a situation where you actually need it. Thanks for pointing that out, heading to the garage to give it a try.

You guys need to read the handbook that comes with the 2007 Vette.
It does not use a key to open the door.
Look in the book to see what the key you got with your car is for.

I said slot, not door. The key is to get the trunk/hatch open to pull the handle to get the door open. The slot is used to start the car if the FOB battery is dead. I really did read the manual many times and I am well versed with the FOB situation.

I'm sure your 16 posts are due to you driving the car so much! I've had my car for 7 years, I assure you that I've noticed no key hole on the doors.
