Default Michelin Pilot Sport

Anyone else have this much difficulty getting tires.
I told the dealer I needed new rear tires on my 2010 Grand Sport.
I wanted Michelin Pilot Sport 2 Zero Pressure Tire (P325/30ZR19 ) tires. He tells me it will take 2-3 days to get them. He can only get them in California, than ship them across country to NY state.
Is California the only place that has them?

That's not out of the question for getting tires. The last set I ordered, they took 2 weeks to get.

Dunno where they came from but I had to order them when I got mine. Took a few days. It's not something dealers keep in stock.

The error of your ways is going to a Dealer for tires they typically don't carry. No doubt you'll pay one hell of a premium for that....."service". Look into Tire Rack, Discount Tire Direct, etc....your wallet and patience will thank you.

I got a price from the local tire dealer that was cheaper than Tirerack and a lot cheaper than the dealers original price.
The dealer agreed to match them.

I got the complete set for front and rear for $1600 including tax and shipping straight from the plant. Won an auction at a BMW Club HPDE. BMW tires aren't as expensive as Vette tires so when the price got to $1300 the BMW guys dropped out and left two Vette guys bidding on the tires. I figured that wasn't a bad price for something Tire Rack was selling for $2200. The guy who was bidding against me last year won this year and really got a great deal. He got the tires for $1300.

Bill, that was a great deal. Tire Rack's "out the door" price, including local installation, tpms service, disposal fees, taxes, etc for my area was $2,420 last week. I had been quoted around $3,200 by most shops, with a low of $2,754 at Discount Tire.

Save some money and just get the [non] run-flat Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires in the GS / Z06 sizes.

Last time I checked, they were $1,416 to the door from Discount Tire Direct.

275 / 35ZR-18"
325 / 30ZR-19"

Just be sure the dealer is quoting you the "turn key total installed" price. Meaning, my local dealership would be the tire price, but was nowhere close with balancing, road hazard, disposal of old tire, etc. Discount Tire beat them by over $200 for a set.

I have noticed the same thing the last couple of sets of tires I have purchased. The dealer matched the out the door price of anyone. The added bonus to having the dealer doing them is you can have it aligned at the same time saving an extra trip.
