Default Where to position jack stands?

I was looking at the underside where the jack puck locations are on the sides of the car. My question is where do you position the jack stands once the car is up? I don't see anywhere on the rails to put them.

Thanks.

I can show you through photos easier than trying to describe. Bear in mind these photos were taken under our previous C5, but the same wood pads fit the C6 also.

It is important that you place something between the jack stand and the aluminum crossmember so that the crossmember is not damaged. This wood idea came out several years ago and has worked for me, but lately I see a couple of fabricators are making a steel version with rubber pads to contact the aluminum.

I had previously seen the Bugman diagram above. I don't want to lift the entire car off the floor, just get the clearance to install side skirts. I only have one lift, so where do you put the jack stand while the lift is in place?

I was looking at the photos from Duckvett. Does this require two lifts? If you get one end up and blocked, what prevents the car from moving while you are lifting the other end?

Sorry, this may seen obvious to those of you with lots of experience working on cars, but I don't want to lift it wrong and do real damage to the car or myself.

Thanks again.

What size is that wood you used on the front and rear?
