Default Have you ever felt guilty for owning your Corvette???????????

I had an experience today that made me feel flattered, blessed, and guilty all at once. I was at the gas station filling up and this hippy looking dude that looked like he was a remnant from the sixties approached me. He was limping and walking with a cane and said " Would you make my day sir and allow me to come over and just look at your car". I said sure, no problem and he came up and starting saying what a beautiful car I had and how it must make me the happiest person on earth to own such a beautiful machine. He kept commenting on what a piece of artwork it was.

He told me he had only had a chance to ride in a Corvette once along time ago. I had that little voice inside me saying "take this guy for a ride" and another saying "you don't know this guy,he could be an ax murderer, better not" I'm a little embarrassed to say, but living in the day and age we do, I didn't offer a ride to him

As I pulled away he shouted "thanks for making my day Mister". It made me feel somewhat guilty that I had what I had and he didn't. He probably will never have the chance at owning one. Yes, I don't know his story a maybe he's made a lot of bad choices in life, but maybe he didn't.....

It hit me hard that we should never take for granted owning one of these cars. It is a dream that many will never realize...JMHO

Amen Randy. With the ups and down of the economy many who were doing well are now looking for a place to live and something to eat. $hit happens.

I honestly don't drive mine a lot and that is one of the reasons! I live in a small town that has LOTS of poverty and I see lots of really poor people who struggle to get by everyday, and here I am paying what I paid for car that I bought just as a toy to get out and cruise in occasionally!! I struggle with that with a lot of the things I have and know that I don't need them but my wife and I work our tails off in 3 jobs so we can have what we do. I know I should be giving more than I do and I don't and I get to answer for that one day!!

Nope don't feel guilty at all.. Feel proud that I busted my a$$ and can own two (65 coupe also)... And if the day comes that something with work goes south and I need to put food on the table, the car goes in a heartbeat... I'll have pictures and bottom line, it's just a car... good story though...

Nope, NFW. I've spent a lifetime busting my *** to save the coin to buy mine. If kids today were offered the same jobs and hours as I've done for 30 years, with a Corvette as the reward afterwards, very very few would take it.

This is exactly why you should drive yours more often...you worked hard to earn it!

Enjoy it, life's too short to not drive what you love.

Default My first corvette ever & NO.

NO, period! If you are honest and worked for your income.

It's also bad news that today people have problems trusting other people. That's a sad statement which shows irresponsible up-bringing in our society.

I don't disagree with you. I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth either and worked a lot of $hitty jobs and hours to buy mine also but I still couldn't help feeling that way.

It means you have a heart and compassion. You earned your car. Remember that.

I work with the less fortunate occasionally. I know how lucky I am to have made good decisions and am blessed to have what I have but I won't feel any guilt. I purchased a Corvette now so I can enjoy it while I can still get in and out of it. If I waited until retirement, who knows. Besides, it's just a car payment so pretty much anyone who chooses to manage their money a little can get one.
Randy you sound like a great guy. I will be up in your neck of the woods again in a couple of weeks. I will drop you a line and maybe we can get together.
