AFAIK, there are two oil cooler systems for the dry sump engines. Some of the newer cars (I don't know exactly which years and models) have the oil cooler located in the radiator, their temp comes up quickly to something around 190.

The other/older wet sump cars have a really big cooler mounted in front of the radiator, easily visible. Those cars often run oil temps below 170 on the street, which is cooler than desired but it gets more normal on a road course. Some of those owners make and install a cover for the cooler for street driving, which they remove for track driving.

You might consider putting some info about your car in your profile...

I have a 2013 GS with one of those larger oil coolers in front of the radiator, takes about 10 miles to get the temp up to whatever it will be at the given outside air temp.. To and from Carlisle last week I ran about 165' when moving and about 180 when stuck in traffic. Trying to find an easy way to get to the oil filter to put a cover or half cover on it for the cooler weather.

That's a typo, right?

You want to cover the oil cooler to increase the temps, not the filter.

But you already knew that...

A simple piece of aluminum foil wrapped and squeezed over the cooler would give the desired effect and allow you to cover whatever % of the cooler that you want. Easily removed when the weather warms up.
