First Corvettes At Carlisle Experience (pics included)
This year was my first time at Corvettes of Carlisle. I've wanted to go for a while but haven't been able to till now. I left on Thursday morning. My 6 hour drive down was good but it was the first time I drove my GS in the rain. I've heard horror stories from some people here on the forum that the Goodyear tires on the GS don't do well in rain (no, my car didn't melt!) but I took it easy and it was fine. One thing I discovered and wanted to ask on this forum was when I turned on the windshield wipers, the headlights automatically came on. Does anyone know if the lights do come on when you turn your wipers on?
When I got to the Fairgrounds on Friday, I couldn't believe how big the fairgrounds were. I've never seen so many Corvettes in one place! I didn't get to see all the things or events that I wanted. I did see the C7 for the first time in person. Some people on here seemed to really like the C7 after seeing in person for the first time. It didn't "wow" me. Don't get me wrong, I do like the look of the C7 but I didn't seem to like it that much more after seeing it in person for the first time. I went to the information session on the C7 and learned some good stuff on it.
I got all of the engineers autographs which I thought was cool. It was neat seeing Tadge in person for the first time. I ended up getting 4 free tee-shirts and I bought two. I got a new cargo shade for my GS with the Grand Sport embroidered on it. I had the factory cargo shade but I liked this one better because of the embroidery on it. I ended up driving in the parade on Saturday night. It was fun and there was a C3 that had real loud side pipes right next to me that almost made me deaf it was so loud!
My only complaint was that the fairgrounds was almost too big. I was tired by the end of the day from all the walking around I did but there was so much to look at. Below are some pictures I took:
My GS on the fun field.
The C7 in Laguna Blue.
The C7 in front of the grandstand.
Harlan Charles was behind the wheel of this C7 at the end of the day on Friday. He got to drive it back to the hotel.
My GS parked at my hotel between two other GS's.
Lined up for the parade.
In the parade.
Downtown Carlisle after the parade.
Cool paint scheme on this C7
My GS parked in downtown Carlisle.

Thanks for pics, Carlisle is a weekend that I look forward to every year, and there is so much ground as you mentioned that I always try to go for two or more days to more easily see everything that I like to see.
