Default Painted barrels and hubs.

Spent the day painting barrels and hubs. Crappy cell phone pics don't do them justice. There still paint on the rotor because I hadn't driven it yet, came off with first stop.

Thanks it really wasn't to hard, took wheels off and washed good, then sanded a little with 300 grit sandpaper, and cleaned with mineral spirits. I used 500 degree black engine enamel because hubs will get hot and I wanted hubs to match barrels, put 3 coats on each waiting about 15 min between coats. There was some overspray on front but came off very easily with lacquer thinner. Took about 45 min. per wheel.

Thanks, sure is a big improvement over the grey paint from the factory, it was starting to stain pretty bad and I was always cleaning on the to no avail.
PS: by the way thanks for the GREAT led light kit. Good price and they turned out really nice!!!

Well done. This is going to be my next winter project. Question: Did you use any primer or prep solution, or did you just apply paint directly?

Looks like he used gloss to me...........I used neither flat nor gloss, when I did mine.......used satin, which looks more like flat, but cleans more easily, like gloss

I used engine enamel, it is good to 500 degrees because I figured the hubs would get pretty hot and I wanted hubs and barrels to match.

Looks great... makes all that ugliness disappear. I painted my hats black and after seeing yours I will be painting the barrels black over the winter. Thanks for sharing.
