Default HUD erratic

Anyone have this happen or know what to do about it? I will drive my 06 one day and the HUD is working fine and the next time I drive it the HUD will not come on. None of the controls will do anything to make it work. Like it is dead one time and fine the next time. Thanks

First thing members are going to ask you is what shape the battery is in and is it charged correctly....then go from there.

Bought the car spring of 08. Original battery would not hold a charge probably from sitting on dealer lot for too long. Got a free warranty replacement OEM battery June 08. Seems to be charging OK.

That's a long ride on a battery.....might ought to get it checked. Vettes are super sensitive to crappy batteries,

I had a customer come to me with a factory HUD issue similar to yours, after pulling everything apart we came to realize the the HUD was barely plugged in which caused the issues. Might want to check connections.

Tried a known good 6 month old battery and still no HUD. So where are these connections located?

behind the DIC cluster. Pop off the surround piece where the hud switch and fuel gauge etc... is and remove this with connections etc... The Cluster is held by "4" 7MM screws. Remove those and pull the cluster out. There are 2 connections on the back side verify those are pushed in all the way. Verify the Projector in the back is plugged in all the way and verify the switch to HUD is plugged in. If you still have issues give me a call and lets see what we can do about walking through some other scenarios.

Are you familiar with the up and down settings in the controls?

Sometimes it is working, but out of your view. Check the manual.

If there is anything I can do please let me know! Andrew can provide more technical advice than I can. If you want to send me your VIN and mileage I can look for open service announcements. Keep us all posted,

I didn't want to start taking things apart on the dash so I thought I'd try the easy stuff first. I charged the battery overnight and when I started the car this morning the HUD was working. It looks like this battery and the one I thought was good were not fully charged. Thanks to all who offered help! Vette guys are the best!!!

Hope it was just the battery that was the problem. That's an easy fix.
