C6 prices now that C7 is here
I am finally in the market to trade my C5 for a C6 .
How do you think the new C7 will affect C6 prices overall? I am sure there are all kinds of variables, but in general, what has history shown to happen to past model years values when new ones come out?
Thanks much!

C6 prices have been great for almost a year now.15+- (17% or so) grand or so off sticker if you qualify, which you do since you own a Vette. Look at MCMAULKIN or Kerbeck is they have any left.

Personally, I would say it will be 1-3 years before you will see appreciable drops in C6 pricing.

I think the introduction of the C7 will stabilize the prices of the C6 market due to the fact the C7 will be selling for MSRP initially. So now is a good time to shop for a C6 if that is what you want.
I think the C7 will have more of an impact in a year or so on the used Vette market.

Dealer trade in offers on a C6 for a C7 will take a hit but the retail market for clean low milage C6's will hold. The C5 retail market will take the biggest hit. The above is my opinion only. I am not in the car business.
My best ever car deal was a used 1964 Corvair Convert that I purchased used for $400, drove it for three years and sold it for $450. Those days are gone forever.

I've been watching this for awhile now. All summer. To me the prices are still on the high side and I haven't seen a deal that makes me wanna go dig up my checkbook. I've been looking for a good deal on a 12-13 C6, but the current asking prices are pushing me toward ordering new. Asking prices, at least up north will drop a bit due to the season, but I'm beginning to think you won't see a big drop in the used C6 market until a significant amount of C6s are traded for C7s. New C6s except the high dollar/high optioned cars are mostly gone, so not many new C6 deals anymore...

Just my observation, when I bought my '05 3 1/2 years ago I paid $30K, lots of people here on the Forum said I paid too much, should have paid in mid to upper 20's (even though my specific car book valued for $32K). At that time I saw some '05's going in the lower 20's. In a couple of recent '05 price range threads, mid to upper 20's now seem to be an acceptable price. This has me wondering if with the intro of the C7 and it's lukewarm reception (many folks don't like it's looks) the C6 value's have inched upward and might stay there for awhile...as I said, just my observation!

I don't know if your buying new or used but the deals on leftover 13's are great! I got $12300 off a new 1LT Grand Sport(with owner loyalty) 6 months ago. Sold my C5 privately. If your gonna pay high 30's for a used C6 you can get a new 1LT C6 for around $42k so that's the better way to go.

First, these $39k new C6 deals don't exist anymore, and if they did I don't own a corvette so not worthy of a loyalty discount even though I have 3 GM cars in the garage. As far as the hypothetical $48k GS, I don't care if the GS is a 5LT, I'm not gonna pay mid 40s for one when I'm $10k away from a C7. Should add that I am really looking in the 12-13 used market and I feel that is too high as well.

So you'd pay 30 something for a 3-4 year old car but not 40 something for brand new??Okie dokie. And C7's will be in the high 60's more then likely in the real world.Even at close to 60 not loaded. But hey, what do I know,I just drive a 2013 2lt GS that stickered for 63ish and I got for 48 and change.

Yes, I'd pay $30k but it depends on the car, and with Corvettes there are too many possibilities to cover all arguments without writing a book. Used 09 ZR1 for $30k? Hell yes! $30k for a nice ~30kmi 1lt 08 coupe? No. I think it's worth $25k.
Not sure when you purchased you car, but If you did not get it recently, then you are probably not aware of remaining stock being mostly high option stuff. You cannot get a new $39k C6 Corvette anymore. Never could if you were not a current Corvette owner. Also, I don't understand buying left over GS of any option level when you can wait a little while and get a C7 for a little more. I'll even toss the 427 in there. Nice car but would you rather have a left over 427 or a 14 convertible? If you're into options, you can get a pretty well equipped C7 for the current 427 prices.
I don't need lots of options myself though. I can order a C7 convertible 1LT with no options beyond Nav for $57.8k less whatever GM Card points I can use.

Under 40K for a new Vette was just like Santa Claus and Christmas morning. I got mine with A6 for 39.6.....thanks Kerbeck. You won't see this again unless the Pres drives the economy off the cliff.
