DIY Dual Mode Exhaust Switch

DIY Dual Mode Exhaust Switch
Haven't posted these instructions for a while, but since I've gotten a number of requests lately, here they are again. For about $10 in parts and about 10 minutes of work an easy and fun mod.
Parts, Tools & Supplies Required:
Mini add a circuit unit
2 position toggle switch (recommend 20 amp rating)
#16 gauge automotive wire or #18 heavy duty speaker wire
{normally I would not recommend using speaker wire for anything but speakers, but since youre only running a maximum of 10 amps through the circuit the compact design of heavy duty speaker wire has some advantages in terms of a quick clean setup and can easily handle a 10 amp load.}
Small piece of Velcro tape
Black electrical tape
3 female electrical connectors
2 male electrical connectors
Wire cutter, stripper, crimper tool
General working knowledge of automotive wiring systems
Step #1 Pull back the carpeted area at the front of the passenger foot box to expose the fuse panel.
Step #2 Using the white fuse puller located at the top of the fuse panel remove the red 10AMP fuse at the lower right corner of the fuse panel as this controls the NPP exhaust.
Step #3 Wire up the mini add a circuit unit and toggle switch as shown in the diagram below. It does not matter which wire goes to which post on the toggle switch. Please note, however, that in order to plug the return wire from the toggle switch back into the mini add a circuit unit you will have to cut the spade of a standard male electrical terminal in half being careful not to cut off too much.
Step #4 Plug the mini add a circuit unit into the fuse panel in the lower right corner where you removed the 10AMP fuse in Step #2 above.
Step #5 Attach the toggle switch to an appropriate spot in the glove box with the Velcro tape making sure that the switch will not interfere with the opening and closing of the glove box AND that the opening and closing of the glove box will not crimp, cut, or gouge the wires going from the toggle switch to the fuse panel. Secure any loose wiring with black electrical tape or similar material.

you know, i really think that the thread on mtw switches are a waste. i'm going to do away with mine because i leave it open all the time anyway. put everything back to normal except the #10 fuse which i'll leave out. if you think about it, why switch it off and on? i think the majority of forum members leave it in the open position 100% of the time.

For better or worse, there are times I prefer the car to be quieter.
(i) conference calls from the road; (ii) early morning departures; (iii) late night arrivals; (iv) parking decks where I don't need to set off "every" car alarm in the place just because I can; (v) my wife doesn't enjoy the sound as much as I do. Plus, flipping the switch occassionally keeps the unit working at factory specs.
To each his own and thanks for the Bump.

I switch back to stock operation when...
My wife's in the car.
When I leave the house at 5 am.
When I see cops every where along Rt. 441, looking for any excuse.
When I'm cruisin' along at 65 mph, and don't want the drone.
When I occasionally want to exercise the baffle actuators to insure they don't get stuck in the open position from dirt etc.
When some one says "wow, how does that work", I can show them.

I had MTW in my 09 but don't have it in my 13GS. I think, after the novelty wore off, that I used the fob twice. It's enough for me to know the mufflers are going to open wide when I stomp on the throttle and all other times I am listening to the radio and want it quiet so I don't see the point.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I'm new to the NPP and Z06.
Does anyone know of a way to wire in a 3 way switch so I can have Open, OEM, and Closed as options? I have the M2W controller right now and it's ok but I'd prefer a hard wired switch with all three options.
Thanks!

I'm actually going to change my thought. You are complicating this way too much. All you need to do is have an on/off switch as i do now. Mine is on the dead pedal. You're going to be either open or OEM. As stated, the OEM won't open butterflies until you hit 3K rpm. Why do you need anything else?
