427 or c7
Would you trade your 427 for a c7?
C7 is growing on me but would not pay sticker or buy first year
Worried 427 will take a hit in value

You should look at both side-by-side before you make a decision, if not a test drive... If you ask me, there is no comparison in looks or in the engine dept's. 427 for me... You'll love either one!

No, I wouldn't trade my 427 Convertible for a C7. The 427 Convertible is a one year car, and in making the decision to purchase it, I did consider that the C7 would be out within a year. However, the C7 will be built for many year to come and I can get one whenever I darn well please to in the future.
I'm predominately a new car buyer, and I like being the original owner of a car ordered to my exact specifications. My 1980 has now been with me for 33 years and is older than my kids. I expect to have the 427 Convertible for a very long time. I've had many vettes in between. It is the rare exception when, I expect to keep a car for long time, but the 427 fits that category.
Will I buy a C7 ? Most likely, but it will be in addition to the 427 Convertible.

getting a c7 right now is difficult. its said its a six month wait. by then, gm should announce some hi po model, allegedly in January. I will likely be one of those guys in thirty years discussing why I shouldn't have sold my 427 vert, but it wnt happen just yet.
my plan is see the next offering, let the market cool, then move up. I feel the 427's were bought well, and don't plan on buying the next one at list.

427 all day long, look at the 427 & then the C7, no comparison...

I think the 427 C6 is going to have a special spot in Corvettedom. On the same totem pole, but under a 63 split window....somewhere near the 427 Big Block tri power.
Lately, first year of these cars seldom retains the magic of last of the generation (C4-C6).

Do you like the C7 more than the 427?
Do you like it enough to pay MSRP or more?
Do you like it enough to eat the considerable depreciation?
If the answer to all of these questions is yes, then go ahead and buy it.
However, if there is even one, "no" answer, then pass on the C7 for now, and enjoy your 427.
There is no charge for this sage wisdom.

Keep your 427.
I do think the C6 looks dated compared to the C7 but after seeing a C7 up close yesterday, all I can say is that my C6 is not going anywhere. It looks like, well, it was jumbled together. The rear end is worse in person than in pictures, the side marker lights around the wheel wells is a joke.

I think that is a real stupid statement. I mean incredible. Either you don't know **** about cars, or you have a C7 fanboy hate all else issue.
ALL hype? 427 cubic inches, unbelievable looks, and a one year car, that has incredible performance. Please take your ridiculous comments to the C7 forum where they belong.
Old news??? It is just over a year old. Maybe the introduction of the C6 is old news, but the 2013 427 Corvette Convertible? I don't think the 1967 427's are old news.
Please, all the rational people here forgive me for responding this way. Trolls don't bother me, or Corvette haters, Viper guys, but this guys comment bothers me. It is just stupid.

For me that answer is definitely not!!! I love the '427' and the things I don't like, I can modify.
If you like the C7, wait at least for the Z07 version. I'm just not a fan of the C7 styling, but it seems to be an excellent vette!
As expected, they seem to be selling quiet well thus far, so it may be a year for you to get a bargain, especially with the verts and Z07 not out yet.

As someone was arguing with me in another thread, a similarly equipped C7 vert will be $71k. Pretty similar price for for leftover new and lightly used 427s. So at least in terms of asking prices, it's pretty apples to apples.
Some will say the 427 makes more power which is true, but you can get close in a C7 with just a tune. Some will say the 427 is special, but I saw one at a car show, and it's still another C6 in a crowd of C6s. Exclusivity the 427 has is with car guys. It will certainly fetch more money 30 years from now though.
C7 might be a multi month wait, especially for the vert, but you can get a 427 right now. I can see that argument for impatient people, but personally waiting a few months for a car isn't a big deal. It's a big purchase for me and I can't afford to get it wrong so I can wait for the right car.
So my opinion is that is all else is the same, I'd wait for a vert C7. The 427 would still be a kick *** car to own, but I just don't think I'd pay as much for one. As a matter of fact, I'd rather buy a low optioned base C7 vert over a 427 all else being equal, so a lightly used 427 is maybe worth $50k to me. Which as you 427 owners will say, isn't gonna happen any time soon.
If you already have a 427? Definitely keep it.
