Headed to the mountains Thursday and Friday. Besides the Tail of the dragon and the parkway, any recommendations on good drives in the mountains. Then headed to myrtle beach for the weekend!!!!!!!

Getting to the Dragon, the Cherohala Skyway is supposed to be fun and scenic.
NC/GA/SC highway 28 runs south from the Tail area, a milder but much longer curvy road. It's sometimes called the "Moonshiner 28" (Google it), or the northern section is sometimes called the "Hellbender 28" because on a map, it looks like a hellbender lizard.
At the south end of the Dragon, on the east side, the "Deals Gap" motel/store sells some maps by "Americarides.com" that show the fun roads in the area, and there are a ton of them.
Best times for the Dragon are a Mon-Tue-Wed morning- less traffic and less radar. Don't try to set any records, just have a good time and BE SURE TO POST PICS when you get home.

Velocity..We are in North Myrtle Beach tonight but we are heading to the mountains also thursday. We are heading to blowing rock instead. But if your going to be in the dragon area make sure you check out the Cherohala skyway which is close to the dragon. Then check out the rattler and the diamondback run. We may even try to drive down from blowing rock friday to run the rattler and the diamond back.

The drive from Asheville NC to Pigeon Forge Tn via Cherokee was one of the most visually stunning drives ever for me. I hope to do it again some day in my Corvette instead of a rental car
