Default Run Flat tires

I just got my Grand Sport today!! Woohoo! Everthing was good until I was turning into my subdivision and the tire issue icon popped up for just a second, and "I think" I felt the tell tell sign of a flat. Limped on home and checked the pressure on each tire, and they were all within a few pounds of each other. Do I have an issue? How can you tell? I've never had run flats.

Did you check with a gauge or via the DIC?

Default Just an idea

A. On the wider tires of the GS they "waffle" when you turn

B. The tire icon will come on when you're 4 -5 lbs low....if it turned off
maybe you were just low

The DIC alerted me, and I then checked with a gauge.

One or more of your tires was probably underinflated. When I picked my 13GS up from a dealer about 350 miles away the tires read about 26 (this was in 80 degree temps). I stopped by the local gas station and topped them off with my trusty gauge and took off. Just start putting money away for the tire fund and you'll be ok.

The tires are Goodyear Eagle F1's. All four were at around 26 to 27lbs. On the sidewall I noticed it said max pressure is 44 psi. What are you guys running yours at?

Look at the driver's door jam. It says 30PSI cold for the stock tires. I did put 32PSI in my Michelin Super Sports but my OEM tires were set at 30psi cold on every C6 I have owned. Check them as altitude/temperature changes also with a regular gauge. Out here at 4300 feet in Utah the TPMS always reads about 2-3PSI low. You don't ever want to see the tire pressure at 44.

If this is a used car (couldn't tell on the op), it sounds like you have a sensor going bad. Sometimes they can take months or longer to crap completely out. I've had them give me XX or low random psi number or it will tell me 0psi and then ten seconds later they are just peachy, and then another few days/weeks/months I'll get another random odd msg. I've also had the sensor go bad with no warning and stay bad. Or it could be a defective sensor in a new car.

It could also be something left over from a battery disconnect and re-hookup.

Twice, now I've had a TPMS warning and when I got home, I had my monthly OnStar report within a minute of when the warning occurred. Coincidence? Maybe?

Either way, I would take it back and have them check it out. Hopefully you took note of which tire it was.

It is a used 2010 model Lisa. You may be on to something regarding the battery. They may have disconnected it.

If the car battery is disconnected/replaced/completely dead, then sometimes the TPMS won't come to life until you drive over 30 (?) mph for a minute or two. Or very rarely, the sensors/car need to be retrained.
But in all of the cases I've seen, it either worked properly right away or didn't work at all until the drive or retrain. The only delayed or intermittent problems seem to come from a dying sensor.
Or
Any electrical accessory plugged into the car can also do this, a club member had a new GS that was having very intermittent TPMS problems, dealer was going nuts trying to fix it until someone told him to remove his Iphone charger. Problem solved.

The battery had died while at the dealership so maybe that was the issue. Or maybe because at the time I had a GPS unit plugged in as well. The car has NAV installed, but it was my maiden voyage and I wanted to compare the built in against my Garmin. Oh well, all the tires are showing roughly the same amount of air so I'm guessing I don't have an issue. Thanks for the added info.

I usually keep mine around 30-32 cold psi as well.
