Default New Tires

2005 Corvette Coup
Researching new tires...
Run Flat, All-Season (looking for Quiet and Smooth Ride !; with good handling)

In my research I think I got it down to--> Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP.
Anyone have any personal experience with them before or after other tires.

Replaced my worn OEMs with Michelin PS2s oversized non-runflats on my Grand Sport last spring before track season and boy did they make a helluva difference on the track. Wow!

We have 2 sets of Michelin runflats, on 2 sets of wheels-
PS2 for summer, A/S+ for winter.

You will definitely lose some cornering grip with the A/S; if you are a real corner-carver then you'll notice. If you just drive the car normally, or even somewhat hard, you'll hardly notice.
You will also get lower price, better cold weather performance even if the roads are clear, and longer tire life.

Life is full of choices...

I've had several different brands on my '05, and my favorite is the Michelin PS2 A/S ZP.

I have those tires. 15K miles now, and I'm very happy with them; smooth, quiet and good traction in the wet.

I am about to buy my second set of Michelin's...
They are currently 1277.00 at Discounttiredirect.com

I have driven in so much rain this year. These tires were great.
Last night coming out of ATL it was pouting rain, after 31K miles on the tires the car still does not hydroplane.
I am at the wear bars on the rear tires.

Good point. (However since a new thread was started, my search landed me right here!) "Searching first" is a good habit that avoids clogging things with redundant threads. Plus, some of the best info can only be found by searching.

I always used Firehawks on my 05, and also had them C4, great tire.

If you are looking for a quiet, smooth ride, try something beside a run flat. Get a small portable air compressor and patch kit if you are worried about having a flat. Non runflats are much more quiet.

So Discounttiredirect.com only has one rear left.
Michelin is back ordered on the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus Run Flat 285/35R19 99Y RF COR

I was able to find a set for 1218.00 free shipping. I think I bought their last two Rears.
But you can try - - - Phone: 1-866-747-6247

I'm running Nitto Invo's non-RF's on my '05 & am very pleased with performance & quiet ride. Plus they're a heck of a lot less expensive than Michelins!

Oh... By the way.
The Michelin Website says something new is coming out.

I am PRO Michelin tires... I LOVE THEM!

If you can wait, see what new tire they are releasing.
Maybe something good for the Corvette might become available.

A recent autocross champ in our area had the Michelin PS2 non-runflats on his C6, wore those out and switched to the PS2 runflats.

He said there was no difference in ride or noise, and the runflat version seemed to handle a little better.

His opinion was that if a runflat is harsh or noisy (Goodyear is the poster child for that), it's because of the design and construction of the tire, not the runflat feature.

But a small compressor is always a good idea with any tires.

I have Firestone rft's on my vette, and I don't know how they could be much quieter. Which brand rft's are you referring to?
