LEO lit me up this morning

Possibly, but I suspect that the town/city courts will almost always try to plea down to keep their revenue stream flowing.
Most of my "speeding" isn't really speeding at all. I practically launch from red lights and get up to 7 or 8 miles over the speed limit...then back off to a 4 or 5 miles over. It's VERY common for me to get way ahead of the person in the next lane after the light turns green....then watch them eventually pass me when they get up to speed. In my book, they are the bigger speeders.
However, when there are a lot of traffic lights, I typically make the next light before it turns red...and they don't. That's probably the biggest difference I see in driving a Vette. You don't necessarily have to speed, but by getting up to the speed limit so fast, you don't get stuck behind fast changing lights.

The stop light you can get 2 citations, excessive acceleration and exhibition of speed. And a cop would likely add in the 7-8 over for ***** and giggles/quota.

Hey Irish, You should know better here in bucolic Joisey. Going over a double yellow is always a no-no. How much is a plead to zero...I seem to remember reading something like $250..right? Seriously, sorry to here about your request for a donation. What town was it in? The shore towns are getting hungry this time of year.

here in pa. you n.j. and n.y. guys are constantly passing people on a double yellow lane. then you have the nerve to call your state corrupt when the officer is doing his job. i call it corrupt when they don't do their job. like a cop told me once, "suck it up and deal with it" ignorance of the law is no excuse.

Where I live in PA you can get away with about 10 over on the highway. After that, you'll not only get lit up, you will be ticketed.
If you're cool, sometimes they will take it down to "failure to obey a traffic device" which is a no point offense. If that does happen most times the LEO will write the speed on the ticket in case someone is stupid enough to look a gift horse in the mouth and try to fight it.
While not fool-proof, I find being professional and admitting what I did will get me a break most times. You do run into that rare as*hat that wants to preach and scold you or treat you like a 5 year old. I find that most police are just doing their job and not looking to bust chops.

Corvette gets attention from traffic cops, but not even close to my 2002 FireBird with the Ram-Aim hood. My standard story about that car was getting a speeding ticket while being passed by a Town Car and a tradesman's van.
Here in the Tampa Bay area, I have seen some blatant attempts at raising $ via tickets. Last ticket was based on my speed at the sign noting the 15 mph reduction in speed, a night no less. No chance to even reduce my speed, just bingo, you are tagged for few hundred dollars. Local TV news station documented that the local governments reduced the amber light time below state standards when they activated "right-light-cameras" Hard to argue that safety is their goal!
Couple of weeks ago I received a warning ticket after taking off like a granny up to about 30 mph and kicking it. Got a little squeal and short shifted from 1st to 4th, still under the limit. LEO pulled me over, stating that I had an "unsafe start" and "racing". Didn't argue with a warning, but I must admit that I was curious about "racing". Doesn't "racing" imply that two cars are involved, or am I just being to literal? Is this an actual charge in Florida?

GSP has 3 lanes on local - fast, lunatic fast and death wish. Does not matter which lane you are in if some clown is mounting your fender. I have become a defensive driver in my old (44) age, but there are plenty of buffoons on the road.

Some folks decide to plant themselves in the left lane and just won't move. Then, if you flash them to move over (another rule of the road), they give you the finger as you go bye them on the right!!
This is one of my biggest gripes about other drivers here in the states. They don't understand that the left lane is for passing ONLY!
I find this is a problem across all states in the NE, not just PA/NJ/NY. While driving in the south, seems to be less of an issue.

I live in Pittsburgh PA. and have a condo in Daytona Beach Florida. My wife and I visit our condo several times a year. Sometimes we fly down and rent a car at the airport. We usually rent a Corvette. Well I found out that when I'm in Florida and get caught speeding that the points don't transfer back to Pennsylvania. I have got 3 speeding tickets in the last 4 years. Got to love it..

I have a few cop friends in my business and the "9 is fine 10 your mine" thing is how they roll...except in school zones of course. On big roads that is pretty safe but in many small towns there are speed traps where 5 over will get you wrote. There are always exceptions and some LEO's are just not nice. Thirty years ago a buddy was driving my 81 red customized vette and got a ticket for 63 in a 60. He was not happy. Sounds like you just got a friendly warning Tony
