Our Corvette club got a personal invitation to visit the center a few years back. Photos were not permitted inside. This is the ticket we each needed to gain access. One thing that was interesting was that they told us each and every one of those cars are started periodically and most are driven a bit to keep them running - this is not a static collection.

I'd sure like to take a few laps walking around in there! Amazing.

I'm not certain, but I believe it's open by invitation only. As for the "no pictures" policy, that does seem odd. But keep in mind, it's a private collection - not a museum. As guests can actually walk around as they please and touch the cars (though we didn't touch, of course) it's no different than we, as owners, like to control who can access our own collectible vehicles.
If you're a member of a club close enough to drive to Charlotte to see the collection, maybe you can request a visit for your club.

What is that old saying..."he who dies with the most toys wins?" He sure looks like a winner. Too bad about the tragedy in his life, surely his son would have shared in the enjoyment of that magnificent collection.
