Default New Carbon Fiber under the hood

Last winter I tried my hand at wrapping some underhood parts in carbon fiber, and wrote up a DIY article about it: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...tte-parts.html

This winter I wanted to change it up a bit and found some really interesting cloth. It has black carbon, dyed blue Kevlar, bright blue anodized copper strips, and bright silver anodized copper wire in it. It shimmers and changes colors a bit in the sun, it's really more striking than in the photos.

I did the Halltech Beehive, re-wrapped my alternator cover, and did the fuel rail covers and topped them with wrapped ACC smooth covers.

I also wrapped the Halltech intake in regular CF and re-did the intake beauty cover.

The old Fuel Rail covers and particularly the intake beauty covers had some durability issues, the resin got rough and even bubbled in a few placed. I think it was from the heat and/or not post curing well. So this go around I used some high-temp resin and post-cured it to about 160F using a home made solar oven.

Here are the pics!

For my next project I'm going to try making a pure CF part from a mold instead of just wrapping, we'll see how that goes.

Nice work.

I used these the ACC stainless covers that go on top of the factory ones.

I wrapped them in the cloth. I also covered the front end and other visible areas of the factory fuel rail covers that are underneath. So it's just 2 pieces, the factory ones and the ACC ones on top.

As for the cloth, I got it from a place called Composite Envisions.
This photo shows the weave of the cloth a little better, but it's still hard to differentiate the dark blue from the black.
