The C7 intro has taken its toll on C6 values. And that's the good news!

I see where you can get a really excellent (20k miles or less) 2008 vert with very option for the low $30's. After looking at the C7 I decided to upgrade mine a bit (Escort hardwired with a Blendmount, Kenwood Excelon with HD radio, Bluetooth, Garmin Nav, Ipod, XM, Iheart radio, Aha, front and rear cameras, etc.). I also added a console cover and a great detail. All this cost about $1800.

I don't race my car and driving it around town I don't use more than 7/10s of the cars capability. The C7 might have a better "feel" but for around town driving I didn't see a performance edge. The seats in mine are comfortable for driving around town and I don't find the interior all that bad.

The C7 is certainly a step up but its $35,000 more!

I'm not sure that the devaluation of C6's is necessarily good news. There are thousands of us C6 owners that wouldn't consider that good news.

I think the first three years of C6 production are the best bargains in the car market, period. Super performance, reliable, and depreciation has slowed.

I plan to keep my C6 a dozen years at least so don't care about devaluation so much. But when I get the urge for something new, I also tend to upgrade what I have and still love.

ZR1 splitter is in the mail...and fixed rocking seat, bad fuel gage, new plugs and wires....I am perfectly happy with my 7 yr old car...again.

Having just picked up a 2005 for very low bucks I'm inclined to agree! It has very high miles, but the previous owner recently replaced the clutch and brakes, plus the engine feels REALLY strong. Need to attend to a few cosmetics and I'll be driving a tight, great handling and reasonably comfortable 420 HP sports car for $19K including sales tax.

My last 3 used Vettes were fantastic bargains; assuming this one holds up as well, I will have drawn "4 aces."

A few comments -

You don't want the new car smell in a C7. There's a thread on that topic.

I really don't see any toll on C6 value as a result of C7. There's a wide spread between the two and that's because the discounts on C7 are minimal due to demand. Brand new base '13 w/52 MSRP have been as low as 36 but a base C7 just a few thou off MSRP 52. And a '13 3LT, chrome, CV w/a 68 MSRP could be had for as low as 50 as recent as Jan 19. Those are exceptions to the rule. Few know about deals like that. And very few of these are left, if any.

The same thing happened with C6 introduction. Brand new 2004 Z06 or loaded verts had discounts as much as 14K off MSRP at the end when 2005 were in production. Had you bought that new 04 and kept it low mileage your depreciation could have been as low as 1500 a year X 10 years. Can't beat that with a stick.

There's something for everybody with Corvettes. Over 60 years worth of picks.

I paid 31k for my 08 C6 3LT w/Nav with 28,000 miles back in August of 2012... Just looking today cars with similar options are right around that price. I don't think values have dropped as much as you make it seem.

I have 70k trouble free miles in my 2008 c6 z51 coupe m6 with npp...

I recommend the Dsv d shaped steering wheel and the mGW shifter.

Cars Been so trouble free since new I don't see a reason to sell it for a few years.

Then it ll be a new c7 z51 or z06.

I dig them both. Whatever my c6 eventually sells for it will have been a wonderful investment.

I remember the intro of the C6...I can't remember anyone selling them for sticker...all had a premium. If anything, I would say that a better deal can be had now on a C7 than was offered on the '05 C6 at the same time in its' introduction.

Love my 2006 vert also. Does what its spose to. Fast enough.....looks great top down or up.....but I'm not sure about the "unbelievably reliable" opinion. If the definition of reliable is not leaving you stranded on the side of the road then that may have a little merit. But man they sure do have their knit-picky side. Some of those knit-picks can be a little costly too....LOL.

Agreed. They depreciate. They'll keep depreciating to a point. There hasn't been a step drop in C6 prices since the C7 introduction.

I bought my 2007 Jan. 2013 for 23K OTD at a Chevy dealership.
I often look on Craigslist to see what jokers are asking for their cars.
For a car the same as mine people are asking 26K-28K. The car is really only worth 20K if that.
30K for a 2008 is just crazy talk. But I am not the fool buying a Corvette.
I guess there will always be people with zero negotiating skills who will pay too much for a used car.

Corvette prices are all over the place right now. There's a few places selling them for really low money (be wary of these, they're probably trashed), and lots of other places selling them are asking pretty normal values for them.

I think you're seeing a lot of off lease cars, and a lot of trashed cars bringing in these low values. My old C6 is for sale at a dealership and they're asking $35k. It's clean and well equipped, and they'll probably get the $35k they're asking for.

So many on here spend months, if not years looking for these bargain basement crackhead prices and don't realize that most of these cars are bought on emotion, and are bought for good money. So just because you bought this car for that price doesn't mean the vast majority of buyers are.

So that said, the C7 might be helping the C6 sales some by having polarizing styling and expensive options, as well as the usual renewed interest in America's supercar.

I think it is new verses used only. We got our 6800 mile 13 GS. For about 66% of new list which is the same break I got on the 05 Dodge Rumble B and was able to sell at over 50% of what I paid after owning it for 8 plus years and 53,000 miles.

i did not buy my grand sport to re-sell. i have owned 7 in total Vettes. the C-7 is an outstanding vehicle and is worth every penny. my GS is fully loaded and gets alot of attention. it rides great and no complaints. all cars depreciate as will the C-7. shock will set in for many in about a year or two when they go to sell their C-7. bet my C-6 will hold it's value better after the novelty wears off. besides i like the look of the C-6 better

beware the power that the LS3 wields...... i could've saved thousands settling for an LS2 car.. night and day difference price wise.. was it worth it? time will tell.. I am glad i did it. i was already settling for last generation car, at least i'm only one generation removed on engine lol...

By saving thousands you mean anywhere from even to $2500 dif. That's not night and day.

C7= RESALE ON SAID C7 DOWN THE ROAD= C6= RESALE ON SAID C6 DOWN THE ROAD = ...They're not investment pieces..they are mass produced cars that depreciate.Granted,VETTES hold their value better then probably any other American car on the road today,but they depreciate.PERIOD.Drive it,enjoy it, beat the hell out of it if you want to,clean it up,and do it again!
