when I had my '09 Z I did the 48mo. 32k, I think it cost me $1,200 and this was a $200 deductible. With the possibility of the valve issue there was no way I was going with out the warranty

I passed on the $3.2k warranty covering for 48mo/32k miles coverage unaware of the "heads fix" prob on my '08Z. 4 months later/ 1600 miles later I got the wiggle test done and failed .012-0.15 on them. Bought my Z at 12.2k miles, so it can happen to anyone. Had I purchased the warranty, I'd be covered for 41 more months and 30k more miles but I didn't. Don't be like me, get the extended warranty. Do yourself a favor and buy the peace of mind, don't be another statistic. Your not buying a $10k brand new car with $200 repairs, you're buying a car that has a $20k engine, $1200-3k tires, etc... Almost any warranty repair will pay for itself.

Contact Dennis Fichtner at Fichtner Chevrolet to get a quote to extend the major guard. Many of us have. Plenty of info on the forum about Dennis. The quotes may be less, and choosing the longer term may be a no brainier.

08 Z owner here. Get the longest, most miles warranty you can get. I really enjoy my Z, best Corvette I have ever owned. But you really want to have the best and longest coverage you can get. Have you priced a LS7 yet? I also 2nd the opinion of going to Dennis Fitchtner.

No finer, more ethical GMPP purveyor than Dennis. He knows everything about everything regarding GMPP. No one else even comes close.

Prices are unbeatable...... service exemplary.

As you may know, there is/can be an issue sometimes w. the Z's engine. The Powertrain warranty will cover it and so will the MajorGuard GMPP service plan. I think extending it would be a good idea.

Sent you a PM w. some thoughts.

Bought a leftover untitled '08 in March of '09, in '12 w/ '18K was within the terms for buying a GMPP from Dennis Fichtner. Good for 3 years or 60K 'til '15. If I couldn't have bought a GMPP I'd have gone with a MG hands-down or, trade.

Plan then was flip the car for the new Z06, now I'm not so sure I want a new version. Lucky for me a GMPP may be renewed once again after initial policy expires. I'm fairly sure I'll renew & keep the best car I've ever owned or driven.

Dennis is the only man for aftermarket warranty needs, IMO.
In fact w/o warranty coverage I personally wouldn't own my Z06, costs for a new LS7 & labor to install is NOT for the faint of heart.

BUT if I did keep it when out-of-warranty, the heads would be done ASAP.

Well, no luck (and i'm confused). Local dealer quoted it. Dennis said he can't quote.

"Sorry but you must purchase a GMPP before the 3/36 runs out and not the 5/100(it has nothing to do with being able to purchase a GMPP) so you are out of luck.

Dennis"

minus an unforeseen catastrophic failure you don't need a warranty. I bought a 2010 with 8 months warranty on it. After owning it for 5 months I said to hell with it and started modifying. If you have the money to play, go play.

Yup, after the original 3/36 runs out you can't get a GMPP, I kind of implied (above) I'd 'qualified' w/ my Z due to valid BB warranty. Hoped Dennis sold MG, guess he doesn't.

Nonetheless you may be able to renew your present MG policy, look into it before it expires even if the seller's a dealer. A decent warranty's better than no warranty, otherwise be thinking ~$3K for a head rebuild. Best to self insure.

Once heads have been 'freshened-up' these cars seem bulletproof w/ good reliability engine-wise.

Default Explanation

Just so everyone understands this post, the customer does not have a GMPP on the car, if he did I could extend the plan for him but again you can't buy a GMPP when the car is out of the base 36/36.

In explaining this further, if the customer just bought the car and it is from a GM dealer or matter of fact any dealer he can purchase an extended warranty on the car on the day of purchase only so if he buys the car, declines the warranty, and then a month later decides he wants to get the warranty the dealer can't legally sell him the plan but then again I have heard of dealers doing things they should not do. I just wanted everyone to know what the deal was with this customer. He states he called his local dealership for a quote-again if they are not the seller of the car-they legally can't sell him a GMPP.

Dennis is a straight shooter. He will not steer you wrong. He answered all my questions when the dealer I purchased my vert from tried to rob me on a GMPP.
