New Track Times = Happy!
I went back to the track last night with a proper suspension to get some new times. Pulled a 1.8 60' on street tires. I'm very happy with what the car has done with minimal modifications.
Mods are minimal:
PFADT Headers (no cats)
HP Tuners
Bilstein B8 Shocks
Custom Sway Bars
Michelin Pilot Super Sports stock width (285s)
That's it. Car puts down around 440rwhp.
11.78 @ 121.7mph
Here's the results of the 4 runs. I experimented with different launch techniques so the times varied as expected but the MPH stood pretty consistent. Here they are...
60' 1.891
330' 5.134
1/8th 7.728 @ 95.48 mph
1000' 9.926
1/4mi 11.783 @ 121.67 mph
-Beat a last generation (2012/13ish) Dodge Viper SRT-10 on this run
60' 1.948
330' 5.232
1/8th 7.845 @ 94.88 mph
1000' 10.055
1/4mi 11.915 @ 121.31 mph
Beat a modded 5.0 (see video below)
60' 2.163
330' 5.494
1/8th 8.115 @ 94.85 mph
1000' 10.334
1/4mi 12.200 @ 120.96 mph
Took down a Camaro SS (modded LS1 4th gen) on this run. He got me out of the hole but I caught him and passed him just before the 1/8th mile marker and cruised to victory.
BAD LAUNCH!!!
60' 2.301
330' 5.778
1/8th 8.417 @ 93.73 mph
1000' 10.641
1/4mi 12.516 @ 120.82 mph
Beat an Infiniti G37S...umm he was bus lengths behind me despite the screw up
Here's the other two runs where I missed 3rd. One was against a dragster truck (knew I was going to lose and was trying too hard and mucked the gear shift) and the other was against an intake/exhaust Grand Sport (just wanted to mow him down hard...still did but I locked myself out of 3rd).
Dragster lost run with gear miss
60' 2.164
330' 5.499
1/8th 8.275 @ 86.06 mph <-- there's the screw up...I kept on it though
1000' 10.639
1/4mi 12.579 @ 116.61 mph <-- gained 30mph in the backend
Bye bye fellow C6er
60' 2.033
330' 5.384
1/8th 8.131 @ 87.99 mph <-- DOH!
1000' 101.458
1/4mi 12.387 @ 117.52 mph
Video of the 11.9 run...my Dad went with and he doesn't know much about this stuff and didn't know I wanted the time recorded at the end. Oh well good times either way.

Nice runs! Great to see a car get down in the 11's. Sidenote: There were no "last gen" vipers in 12/13... the 4th gen ended production in 2010... the current generation (5th gen) didn't begin until 2013... Vipers pretty much look the same on the surface (except for the hood and wheels) from the 3rd gen (2003-2006) to the 4th gen (2008-2010). The 3rd gen cars had 505hp... the 4ths had 600hp. Both extremely capable cars and it's awesome that you put one down!

I did a quick drop (not full dump) from just over 2000rpms for the 1.8 60'
Here's a screen capture snip of the video I took of him when it ran down the track. Care to enlighten me as to what model that was? It looked like the generation just before the current ones to me. He was doing same ETs as me but MPH higher at around 125mph. I talked with him he said he normally doesn't run with street tires but that's what he did like me. Had exhaust, tune, and one or two other mild bolt-ons...

Nice runs! You can pull some decent 60 fts on street tires, people act like its impossible sometimes
Your car sounds awesome btw. I found a few of your vids on youtube. That made me order a set of headers with week
Keep the vids/times coming!
and what was the DA?

Track is Bradenton, FL so I'm pretty close to sea level.
After what the car pulled last night I'm not really in a rush to do much more performance modifications at the moment short of bigger tires. Just about Z06 performance for pennies less.

Thanks dude! Driver mod is all it takes. Temperature was mid 70s when I nailed the two 11 second runs. The sun went down and it started dipping into high 50s and I think that's what did me in on the 60' times. I couldn't get the Super Sports to hook for crap. Even the last run of my night (the 2.0 60' with the missed gear shift) I spun like hell even when mirroring the same launch technique I did to nail the 1.8 60'. Those tires are only good in warm temperatures.

These LS3's are a ton of fun. I had to spray my C5 to get in this area

How do you get them to hook in colder weather? Later at night I dropped tire pressure from 32psi to 28psi and I did a really long burnout (enough to cause some decent smoke). My previous runs was maybe a 2 second burnout. I was hoping to heat them up but no luck.

Nice dip into the 11's! You could do better 60' times with better tires, but this makes me long for test n' tune days at the track this summer.
might even pull better times driving around the water box.

I think I need fatter tires and drag radials. The super sports are a phenomenal tire but I'm at the limits of it.
On a narrow body C6, what's the widest tire I can put out back without it bulging outside of the car?

Sounds like fun - you got some incredible times. Your 60' times are amazing - and show how important it is in a 1/4 mile run. Basically, you gain about .2 in the 1/4 mile for each .1 gain the the 60'. Your car runs great too, watching some of your Youtube vids.

Thanks! What about bigger rim? How big can you go without having the tire stick out past the body of the car? I know on the GS/Z06/ZR1 they have more leeway because of the widebody kit but I don't have that option on mine.
Also, what's the percentage of change you need for the fronts in order to not disrupt the active handling system? Is there a formula or something to look up for that?
