Help! Scam? California speed shop
A guy in Southern California contacted me through craigslist offering to sell me a ls3 motor. I'm not sure if he is located in or around Los Angeles but I believe he is. He said he doesn't have a website but is selling locally and on craigslist good enough to where he doesn't need one. He said his name is max levans and owns his own shop does anybody have any idea who he is?

I'd hesitate to deal with him if he's not a forum vendor and if you don't have someone you trust who will vouch for him.

I asked him various questions and such and he promptly got back to me with very good answers and he seemed to definitely know what he was talking about. I'm pretty sure any scammer wouldn't take their time to do that. I believe he is in the norwalk long beach area he has a 562310 cell number which is an AT&T carrier around there

So what if he's in the LA area? C'mon man, think. You're in Indy, he's in LA. If you send him money other than by something like escrow.com, and he doesn't send you an engine, or a non-running engine---what are you going to do? No shop, no trail, etc. What's your plan? Maybe ask in the CA forum section of CF.

why dont you ask him to facetime or skype you to give you a walk around the motor, I bet he wont
I bet the motor is in a garage somewhere that he cant get to, but his shipping agent will send it out to you once they receive the funds.

PayPal I have his phone number but he hasn't text me back today or yesterday yes he could be busy but he usually got back to my quite quickly not sure what to expect at this moment. His shop name is ml racing but their is nothing on the web as far as that and if he is a scammer why would he continue to talk to me after I sent the money and why would he refund me 120 bucks because of a delay in Shipping ?

If I were you I'd contact PayPal this instant and see what your options are. I don't know, but his $120 "refund" could be an attempt to delay your looking into things so he can assure himself of getting your money.
If you are able to put things on hold, I'd presume you could always put the deal back together again if you later decided all was good. But if you wait too long, there may be no options. Good luck.
