Default Steering wheel replacement?

I am thinking about swapping out my steering wheel on my 2013 C6 Coupe. The stock steering wheel just feels to thin for me. On every vehicle I own I always seem to make a trip directly to the the local auto parts store and purchase a steering wheel cover that gives more thickness. I do not want that cheap crap in my 'Vette, so I was contemplating swapping out the steering wheel. My questions are simple... Is a DSVettes steering wheel simply a stock wheel wrapped and stitched in leather? If so, is it noticeably thicker than the stock wheel? Any suggestions on where to buy? Are the installation instructions online or anyone have a copy? I am trying to determine if I want to tackle the install or take it to a shop?

The DS Vettes wheel is an excellent solution for you. They begin with a factory wheel and modify it to your exact specs. You can choose your leather color(s) and type, stitching color(s), whether or not you want ergonomic grips, flat or round bottom, you name it. The finished product is definitely thicker than stock. The best thing to do is simply phone them directly and speak with Gerardo or Lino; they will take excellent care of you. As for the actual swap, I did mine myself; if I can do it, pretty much anyone can do it.

Here's a pic of my '05 wheel from DS Vettes. It's one of the best interior mods you can do.

There are a couple of Forum vendors on here who sell DSVettes steering wheels. Having had one before, I agree w. Mike above: it is a very good wheel. It is a bit thicker, not beefy-beefy, but I'd say just the right "thickness."

There are other manufacturers as well such as APSIS, Caravaggio, MCS, and I think Corvettemods has one, too.

Whether it's something you want to do yourself, one caution: make sure you pull the applicable fuse for the airbag and THEN take off the wheel assembly. This was told to me by someone who knows what he's doing. You can get away without doing it, but the consequences could be severe if the air bag "deploys."

Non Supporting vendor information removed

I replaced mine with Mike's. He is a stand up guy whose handmade custom wheels are created 30 minutes away from The Corvette Museum. All made in U.S.A. There is a wheel on display and a selection chart in the Museum Store.

Many different colors combinations and he can do many styles...

From DSVettes, what are the options other than their "D" wheel? I do not like the flat cut bottom. Or at least the images I've seen I do not like... I wish their website was more up to date with images and a valid store...

I second the motion above (and have one on my car), but I did love my DSV wheel, too.
