It's a very common problem with the C6 and now we are learning most other GM vehicles. Do a search and you will find most of the problems are the wires and connector under the drivers seat. Look for the yellow connector. Many of use zip tie it. That works for awhile.
Before you do anything notify the NHTSA and file a complaint. It's the only way we will get a recall.

Thanks for that - very helpful. Like I said it has only happens a couple of times which has not worried me. Does it usually get worse? If the light is on does it mean the bag is disabled, or is it just the wiring that is at fault and the bad is still working? I live in Dubai and the driving here demands that the bag works!

We need to get some publicity on this Vette air bag issue while the media and the politicians are hot of scapegoating GM and get them to recall them and replace the connectors. Anyone got any connections to media or politicians on the Congressional committee?

Soldering the connections is not an option...

My light tends to come on after a hard turn, hard stop, or hitting a pot hole. I can image the light would come on during a crash.

Interesting that you think that. Soldering the connections is exactly what GM will do on the Buick recall. That recall is for the exact problem the C6 has but we don't count I guess. I have been reluctant to solder mine for legal reasons. What if I soldered them and then had and accident and the air bags did not deploy. GM would wash their hands of it and blame me.

I am working with a Michigan reporter on our issue. It is going slow but I hope something happens as a result of it.

I had this issue a couple of days after purchasing my 2010 GS Vert. In my case, I removed both seats, checked the wiring and found no issues. Next I checked the connectors and found the driver's side female connector had two (2) of its sockets spread out further than the others. I was able to squish them closer together and then plug in the male connector and zip tie them together. The air bag light has stayed out ever since.

Another suggestion I saw in a previous post and performed - don't use an exist setting that moves the seat (if you have memory seats). This cuts down on seat movement and thus the potential for loosening the airbag connectors over time.

Hope this helps anyone experiencing this issue!

Thanks for that. Very helpful. Strangely since I wrote to the forum about the problem it has disappeared. That is another ploy anybody with the problem can try!

The air bag light in my vehicle is currently "on" but I recently upgraded my interior and both seats were out of the vehicle. I hope the connector was not damaged during the process.

Mine came on a couple of times about a year after I bought the car. It was intermittent like yours. I was in the dealership (like having root canal) for several minor issues I didn't want to mess with. The light had not been on for a couple of weeks and 1,000 miles but they said they repaired the connector in the driver's seat under warranty. The light has never come on again.
