ATI Balancer vs. Summit SFI Harmonic Dampers (SUM-C2501)
I need to replace my GM Harmonic Balancer because it's wobbling. Which one should I get? ATI or Summit (SUM-C2501)? Anyone have any issues with either part after the install? Thanks.

I hear the the ati is overkill and not required unless you are using vehicle for racing (which I'm not). I just don't want to put the original GM part on and have it fail again. Are the Summit SFI balancers considered much better then the stock GM one?

I like the ATI too but I didn't feel like flipping out $450 for it since I don't do any racing or hard driving either. I ordered a Power Bond PB1117-ss for $225 shipped and its scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. By the looks of it I think its built well and certainly better than OEM.

GM uses ATI exclusively
when GM wants to avoid hb failure in engines including LS series at any power level they use ATI exclusively.definitely not overkill for peace of mind and only $200. more.they dont use Powerbond,Summit,SLP or any other brand.check your GMPP catalog.I insalled a Powerbond on a 07 with 18,000 miles on it yesterday.nice looking unit but would not install on my own car.5 lbs heavier than stock unit spinning around on the end of your crank

I have a summit, and like others have mentioned they are sfi. Yes they're heavier than the factory one, but these engines are also internal balance. So no big deal to me and I shift mint at 7k rpms.

If there are 3 different aftermarket balancers (ATI, Power Bond, Summit) and all of them have been proven to be better build than OEM and wont start the wobbling then what makes one better than the other? They all do the same thing in the same way, right?

Power bond is close to the stock design ( elastimer center band section with the outer pulley and inner hub bonded to it), but adds anti wobble C clips front and back of the HB.
As for the summit unit, have not seen a exposed view of it, so not sure of the design on it.

: How often should I have my damper rebuilt or inspected? A: If you have had your damper for nearly 10 years, you should send it in to have the rubber O-ring inspected and changed. ATI will also check for any problems with the hub and other damper components. We can have your SFI damper re-certified if necessary. Please speak to your ATI technician for further information. If you are racing in any sort of pro class or have over 800 horsepower, you should consider having your damper rebuilt at the end of each season. Remember, the smaller the damper you run on your car, the harder it has to work to protect your engine!

I'd stay away from Scummit balancers. I bought one for my 67 because of the price and when I went to install it, I realized that the thing had been assembled wrong. the timing marks were 60* off
