C6 still cool enough
Had 2 new guests at Thanksgiving dinner tonite . . . a 14 year old boy who's father passed away last year from Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS), and his Mom.
The boy sees my silver 13' GS in my garage and tells me the ZR1 is his absolute favorite car but he loves all Corvettes. So after dinner I took him out to the car, had him sit in the drivers seat, and then start the car. He'd never started any car before. I also let him rev the engine and play with the HUD.
His expressions in the car were priceless. ( He also bonded with our dog, a 130 lb Great Dane) He told me it was a great Thanksgiving.
So it seems it may be that a C6 is still cool.

Because you shared your Grand Sport with him, that 14 year-old will think your Corvette is cool for the rest of his life. He'll always remember today! And think of the bragging rights he has -- how many people get to say that the first car they ever started was a Corvette? Now that's epic COOL!

Great story. I've let a few people sit in the car and take pictures for them now and then. It brings a smile to their face which brings a smile to mine.

I thought the coolest thing all day was the Lions finally winning on T-day until I read the cooler thing you did for that young boy.
I had a fairly high interest in cars from age 14 also, but had a major boost at age 17, when one of the top SCCA drivers took me for a ride in a new factory prepped '58 FI Vette. I've never forgotten that and how in some respects it shaped my life from that point.
I hope similar things for that boy. You sir, have made my day.

My Dad's friend did that for me many years ago and I never forgot that moment - neither will he.
Very, very cool.
Very, very cool.

Great story and one he will never forget.
Growing up, my next door neighbor had and old MGB that was mint. He let me sit in it and start it also. That started my love affair with cars.
When I bought my first Corvette at 19, a 69, he allowed me to swap cars with him anytime I wanted. Funny thing was his daughter had never driven it, but I was allowed to take her out on a date in it.
He loved driving my 69 as much as I loved driving his MGB. As far as I know I was the only person allowed to drive it and he was the only one allowed to drive my 69 without me riding shotgun.
Sharing our passion is part of the Corvette experience, the best part I think.

Great story, thanks for sharing.
Growing up, my grandparents had a neighbor with a '61 Corvette. I would stand and stare at that car and keep thinking "someday, someday" and now I'm still hooked. Love my Grand Sport but also loved the 4 before it.

Awesome story. You definitely made his day and am ember of desire was ignited. I have had several people take their pictures with my GS as well. I have even had people wait outside when I have gone in a store and ask me what it is or even shake my hand and say what a cool car it is. When I tell them its a Corvette they usually say "I know that... what kind is it, it looks different." I then explain it is a Grand Sport. It does not matter the model or Generation or year... if you read most stories of those who now own Corvettes it almost always starts with a story about seeing a Corvette for the first time and how it forever affected them until they were in a position to eventually afford one in their life.

That's a great story, and your C6 will always be "cool" awesome cars. I took my 19 year old God daughter for a ride yesterday in 34 degree weather, between screams and giggles she absolutely loved it.
