Default Oil pressure

If anything that is just a bit higher than mine usually runs at that rpm after warmed up. I would say you are in good shape.

I see about 45-50 lbs. at 1500 when warm. That's in 6th gear. Lower gears higher pressure.

Check the pressure at idle (aprx.550 RPM). It should be around 28-30 PSI.

Ditto, and when the revs start climbing the pressure should be higher.

And it all depends on the temp and the thickness of the oil, since if you run thicker oil for hotter temps, the pump can pressurize is better than thinner oils for lower temps in hot temp conditions, and will have higher oil pressures across the board.

All,
I'm searching tonight low oil pressure threads and came across this one.

My oil pressure usually runs around 39-42. Today, my DIC pinged on (I had the DIC off earlier.) and started showing my oil pressure. Not sure I actually heard the ping, so I kept an eye on it. After a few miles I stopped at a light and the pressure went down to a low 21 psi. At each subsequent stop, around 22-24 psi range. In the past, I never saw it below 38-39. This all happened shortly after I jump on it a little.

A6, no dry-sump, 2011 GS, 20,700 miles, 29% oil life. Eng/Trans still under warranty. I checked, oil level fine, but some obvious vapor coming up thru the dip stick pipe.

Any ideas what going on?

It was only about 0 degrees, and not running but for 5 minutes. I have it in the shop today. Would this be a warranty issue?
