Default Air Filter

I am going to replace the air filter in my 2012 base vette. I am thinking about a
K & N . I am stock, no CAI, is the K&N without CAI worth the money?

Not a fan here, so I would say no, not worth the money.

I run the K & N drop in filter in my two Subarus and also on the top of the carb on my old Malibu.

For the Corvette, after much reading at this forum, I'd replace with stock.

My 2 cents.

plus side is that it's reusable. Down side is they seem to not do that well of actually filtering and many folks tend to over oil them during the recharging process. I've have used it on one of my past corvettes but have passed on them since.

They don't seem to have any advantage. The stock system turns out to be quite efficient.

The new data is not in favor of the K&N filter. The original equipment filter on the 12 & 13 do a better job of filtering and do not lower performance.

Do some research on the stock Donaldson Power Core filter. It incorporates the highest filter technology in the market. For $100 you get 100,000 miles of protection and very low restriction. That's hard to beat and your engine will thank you.

The OEM filters on the c6 are good for 436,505,and 638 HP for the base,Z AND ZR1 vettes. Why would GM have not installed a K+N OR SOME OTHER "MIRACLE" FILTER IF THERE WAS SOME WAY TO GAIN hp OR FILTER BETTER THEN THE OEM???Waste of money.PERIOD.

I have the Attack Blue in my 2010 Grand Sport. Throttle response is good. You have to trust the manufacturer when it comes to filtering pollutants.

How much is a stock and K&N air filter.

I heard stock is all you need.

Stock is around $100 and good for 50,000 miles. I believe the replacement "dry" K&N is about the same cost.

My K&N drop in filter was $20 CHEAPER than the stock, so I went with the K&N,,,no issues,,
