Default 2015 z06 vs 2013 zr1

Ok folks, here I sit , can't sleep. So I am wondering, the 2015 Z06 is 6.2 liter supercharged with 620 horsepower. The 2013 ZR1 is 6.2 liter supercharged and produces 638 horsepower. What is the difference in the engines?

Compare the LS3 in the C6 to the LT1 in the C7 and you have the majority of your answer. Now go read the dozens of posts that compare the two superchargers and you'll have the 90% solution.

As an aside, Chevy is advertising AT LEAST 625hp for the new Z06, which means it'll likely be a bit more. Not sure where you're getting 620 from.

lol, the 620 was what this ole phart remembered from the car mags. I am sure you are correct. I haven't read anything describing the difference in engines and superchargers. Get very technical and it goes right over my head.
Just noticed we both joined the Forum in April 2000. We have been here a while.

Wow...tough decision...Either way you are going to get a badass car for sure ... ZR1 for me - still warming up to the new Z06 ...
Put the horsepower numbers aside I think...there both going to be fast cars...Good luck with what you decide bud...

Yes, been quite awhile on this Forum. Hard to believe!

It's the technical stuff that makes the engines. Conceptually they are very similar. It's stuff like direct injection, variable valve timing, etc that drive the base differences. Too that, add supercharger differences....changes in displacement, pulley size, etc.

Google is your friend. 2 second search regarding the LT1 that tells what carries over from the LS3 (which is the starting point for the LS9 in the Z)...here

The supercharger on the LT-4 is smaller, but spins faster.

While the LS9 has more Hp the Lt4 has more torque. The 2015 ZO6 I believe will be quicker & faster than the ZR1. Comparing numbers means nothing when it comes to actual performance. Bench racing is fun till you realize benches don't move.

It will be fun to see what king of power levels the direct injection can handle with little issue.

The C7 Z06 is already faster around the Milford proving grounds than a C6 ZR1.Read about it in the latest issue of Corvette magazine.

Yes but it is far more advanced than the C6 it replaces. A F22 is a whole lot heavier than a P51 but is faster because it is far more advanced.
