I called a local dealer today for recall on low beam lights on my '05. They said they'd have to order a wiring harness for it, would be here in 8-10 business days and they'd call me.

— Nearly 112,000 Chevy Corvettes from 2005 through 2007 because they can lose low-beam headlights. GM says when the engine is warm, an electrical housing can expand and bend a wire, causing it to fracture. GM will also repair Corvettes from 2008 through 2013 if owners have the problem.
My dealer keeps telling me that Chevy hasn't devised a fix for it yet and they haven't been sent any repair parts????

Paying? It's a recall, I'm not paying a dime. I called Serra GM svc department in Nashville TN.

They just gotta get it in. It's a wiring harness for low beam headlights she said over the phone.

I just got a call from Les at Jack Schmitt Chevrolet saying they've received parts for the UBEC recall and would I like to set up an appointment. I haven't received a notification letter from GM yet, which doesn't surprise me at all.

Les said it should take about an hour to install, so I made an appointment to take Red in a week from today. I'll keep this thread posted.

I'm wondering if a dealership would give me a hard time since my car is modded. Supercharger, headers, cam and electrical stuff.

Possible, but I doubt it. Unless you've mucked around with the wiring in the underhood fuse box itself, you haven't disturbed the problem this recall will fix. Remember, GM is paying the dealership for the labor.

Jumper wire off of a fuse. Never has popped a fuse in its lifetime. As far as the actual wiring it's completely stock. I could always remove the wire and tuck it away somewere so they really can't complain. Easy money for the dealership though so I guess I'll find out in a few months.

FOLLOW-UP... I took Red in this morning. John at Schmitt Chevrolet told me he was watching out for the UBEC recall kits, and put my name on the first kit they received. He says we won't start seeing the formal recall letters from GM for another two months or so. As promised, the repair took about one hour.

What work was done, how did GM decide to implement the recall?

I have an 09' base I brought it in for service for a problem with my seat and they told me there was a new recall for a headlight part, I had the car there two prior and it wasn't out yet. They ordered the parts and will do the repair on my next visit 1/5 this seem to only be able to do one thing at a time rather then everything in one visit. Frankly this is getting old quick never have I had a car to a shop so many times for so few problems.

How about posting the URL where you ran your 2009. I have an early 2008 and would like to run it

Looks as if this problem is finally getting straightened out by GM.

I have yet to receive my letter but the 08 is listed as being recalled on the GM site. Letters to come!

I will be making an appointment now to get on the list for repair.

Appointment made for next week. Actually I have to arrive first come first serve. I have no prior dealing with this dealership hence I can not make appointments yet. I wonder why the Dealerships have a bad rap.

I have been told they they have the kits in stock.

The service rep was straight forward and nice enough although lacked some personality. I felt like just another call in a long line of calls. Tough job.

What a way to do business...regarding not being able to make an appointment due to no previous dealings.

The car was purchased at this store but has since changed ownership.
