Default Steering wheel crooked after reinstall

I had been driving with an upgraded steering wheel on my C6Z for about a year with no problems. Since I'm selling the car, I went to put the stock steering wheel back on. I did that with no problems. However, the steering wheel now tilts about 10 degrees to the left. When I'm driving 100% straight, the steering wheel is tilted slightly left.

The car still drives fine. I haven't actually messed up the steering. It's just the position of the steering wheel is off. It's natural resting position is no longer 100% straight. It must have been something that I did wrong during the steering wheel swap. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I had that happen when I put my new fuzzy suede steering wheel on and I'm hoping that an alignment will help take care of it. That is all I can think of....

The steering column has a position sensor in it.

Plug in a Tech II to get a reading on the wheel position sensor, and then true the steering wheel to the sensor first.

From there, the wheel to alignment can be corrected at the arms.

Did you get the alignment marks on the wheel and the shaft aligned? If you did, then the problem is not with your installation

^^ Thanks. That's probably it. I didn't even know that was there and did not look for it.

Just pull it off and align it properly.

I have a 2009 coupe that has about 1 inch of free play in the steering wheel back and forth a half inch each way. It feels like it is definitely in the column someplace.. no wonder in the wheel just feels a bit weird to have that tiny play in the wheel as I noticed it right away when I test drove it .. I am used to it now but seeing this thread I checked again today and it is there but is no further then someplace in the wheel or column. I am getting another wheel for it and hopefully that fixes it or maybe I find the issue while replacing it ..
