Default Clutch Fluid

I routinely use the Ranger method for changing my clutch fluid. I always use GM part number 88958860. I recently ordered that part number from Corvette Central and received AC Delco DOT 4 GMW Brake and Clutch Fluid part number 10-4086 (19299570). Is this the same fluid?

I've done this method, it works
My one concern is all the pressure you put on master cylinder when pumping the clutch? If you can damage the master cyl from all the pressure your sending it by pumping the clutch over n over. .?

No damage, but I just go drive mine to mix the fluid. If I'm going to push the clutch pedal repeatedly, I'm going to enjoy doing it while driving it.

I actually do this over a one week period. I suck out the fluid, add fresh fluid to the line, take the car to work and back and repeat. By the end of the week it is nice and clean.

This is my case since the initial procedure, going back a few years anyway.

Initial I had to pump and change three times, now I just change and drive.

I noticed in my friend's C7 they have changed the clutch fluid reservoir to a black color rather than the translucent one we have in the C6......maybe so they don't complain about black fluid?

19299570 is the new part number in the owner's manual for the C7.
Does it actually say on the can that it is clutch fluid like the old C5 clutch fluid, or does it just say DOT 4?

One day of driving should do it.

Buying from a Dealer I can guarantee you overpaid.

DOT4 is DOT4 regardless of what name is on the label.

DOT4 from PEP Boys is the same DOT4 that you pay 4 times as much for at the Dealer.

Well I've been using DOT 3 for 10 yrs in my 04 ZO6 and for 5 yrs in my 09 Z51. I've had no issues. Should I be using dot 4. Does it make a difference?

DOT4 is supposed to handle slightly higher temperatures the DOT3.

If the DOT3 isn't gumming up or boiling away you are fine.

Dot 3 is in brake reservoir and Dot 4 is in clutch reservoir from factory. I have used Dot 4 in both.
