Default FOB battery voltage

I had some erratic episodes of "fob not detected" etc. so I got a pack of 2032 Duracells.

The new Duracell has 3.27v. The one I took out was 3.05v.

Not much difference?

I haven't really used the Corvette much this week but I'll report back if I'm still having any problems once I start using it some more.

Mike

P.S.
I used a small bladed screwdriver tip to use in the pry indentation on the side of the FOB. It worked fine for seperating the halves. I was careful when snapping it back together. No issues with that process thank goodness.

I don't think that 3.05 is low enough to impact performance...but I know that when it gets down near 2.8, things can start going downhill fast. I don't think that your issue is battery related, but a new one can't hurt. What about interference from a cellphone or charger?

Should work fine down to about 2.8V.

Agree with the 2.8 comment. Confirmed that when I had the infamous, "No fob Detected" on the dash.

Confirm on the 2.8v. I change fob batteries every 3 years and write it down so i don't forget.
I have experienced the dreaded "interference from a cell phone" many times.

If I squeezed the FOB it would then recognize it. Like a loose battery connection?
Anyway we'll see how the new battery works in the real world this week.

That sounds like the very common issue with some batteries (Rayovac?) that have the rough surface on one side. The rough surface doesn't make contact well.

It was the original Panasonic battery I think. It had the rough surface.

So far so good. No problems since I put the new shiny side DuraCell in.

(I kept testing it a lot walking around the garage the last week and in the parking lot at work)

I just came back from Harbor Freight and bought a 4 pack of Thunderbolt brand lithium button cell batteries for only $2.99. Actually got a free flashlight with coupon and another 20% off the purchase of the batteries. My volt meter read 2.85v on both my old batteries and the new ones read 3.35v. I had noticed it was getting more difficult to open the door from the outside so that is why I replaced them. These new batteries have the rough surface but my doors open nice and easy now. Btw, this is only the second time that I replaced the fob batteries in nine years on my 05.
