Advice Needed on 08 C6 Purchase
Wife and I bought our first car (06 C6 coupe) a few years back and sold it when it was time to buy a car for our 16 year old. She's since married and moved on, so we're back in the market. We have our sights set on an 08 or newer this time around, and found one local to us, but it's a convertible. Here's some info on it:
14,000 miles
Manual trans
3LT package
F55 magnetic ride suspension
MGW shifter
Corsa sport exhaust
Z51 sway bar
Kenwood DNX 6160 stereo/GPS head unit w/backup camera
He's asking $36K for it. Says it's in perfect condition, no engine mods. Couple questions:
1) Any thoughts on the options on it--good, bad, what have you.
2) He mentioned there's some sort of removable screen for when driving with the top down at freeway speeds to help with the wind. Curious what that's about (never owned any convertible before)
Thanks for any info. Looking forward to become a Corvette owner again.

Pretty much what I have except mine is an 07. Nice options. The removable screen goes behind the seats and help eliminate the wind from buffeting around from the back.
The only thing I question is the price. I'd be more in the $33K range. Then too, it's summer convertible pricing involved. Otherwise a good car with nice options, especially the F55 Mag suspension.

I'm assuming it is this one. One of our club members has one in his 427 Vert and likes it. The down side is that you have to remove the screen to put the top up.

That is a well optioned Vette, the price is about what a private sale would be, I would try him at 34k.

NADA puts the retail at $41,700 and rough trade at 34,375 and avg trade at 36,575
Not really a bad price but you should try to get it a little lower. NADA usually prices higher than the other books

I just hit a snag with this one. He filed a non-op on it so it's not currently registered. I would be financing part of it and my bank said the vehicle must be registered before they can finance it.

tell him to register it and you will buy it. If he really wants to sell it, he will need to register it because most people would also finance it. He may not know about the need to have it registered to sell it. Or maybe another lending institute will finance it. Do your homework on the history of this car before you buy it.

Comparing the coupe you bought and the convert he is looking at are comparing apples and oranges when it comes to price.

That is a VERY fair price for an 08 vert with those options. I would not be haggle much on the price (if its what you want).
Otherwise.....it will be sold out from under you.
just my .02
