Default TPMS help

I used to track my 2007 Z06 which I sold a few years back. I've been sans Vette for the past few years, however I recently bought a 2011 GS.

I have an extra set of track wheels in the wings that are equipped with TPMS sensors compatible for 2007 models, but I think they changed TPMS models somewhere between '07 & '11....so a few questions:

1. Are the sensors from '07 and '11 compatible?
2. Where is the best place to buy '11's if I need them?
3. I have a Bartec sensor tool for the '07 sensors...will that still work for the '11 sensors? And if not, what tool works now?

Thanks for any help. Just getting back up to speed with all this stuff.

1. NO, they changed in 09.
2. www.gmpartshouse.com carries new sensors, as do other forum vendors.
3. TPMS sensor tools: Bought mine from Tire Rack. Don't know if yours will work on the newer sensors. If it was bought for your 07 it probably wont.

My tool asks for the year, so if yours does that it might work.

You don't need sensors, you can now put the car in comp mode or turn everything off w/o sensors.

You will get some annoying messages and a blinking light at first (turns solid after a bit)

The compatible sensors are 315 frequency

The older sensors are not compatible

Is that right? That's awesome and makes a lot of sense....so no more "limp" mode to be worried about?

I bought some used wheels with tires and older sensors last week, I bought new sensors a tpms tool and, sealed up the new sensors in a pressurized container PVC pipe.

The car the container leaked a bit at first so the car goes in limp mode when the sensors show low or zero pressure.

I removed the sensors and drove the car, now it says service tpms sensors but you can put the car in comp mode.

I wish I would have known after all that trouble
