some are car buffs other not so much
So I made my 2-3 time monthly trip over the hii. This would be hwy 17 over to the coast at 1800 ft elevation and some 20 mile ride.
I usually go to the Santa Cruz wharf and have some fish/chowder.
I am walking back to my car (C6) and see a lady wrestling with her beach bag while it is sitting on my rear hatch area. I could not believe my eyes.
I walk up as ask her what the hell she is doing and she tells me she is trying to find the suntan lotion. I say, no what is your beach bag doing on my car. She replays, is this your car.
I look around and see that she has her door resting against the side of my car too.
The bag had no metal tabs or anything, I checked.
I said that you really should not do something like this and she asked why.
At this I told her to shut her door and get away from my car. She got grumpy and talking to herself complied.
I am not sure what I would of done if the bag had metal tabs on the bottom or wet sand!
I finally tried to calm her down and said no harm done, and she asked again it this my car.
At this I opened the door and told her she should respect other peoples property more. I said that some car owners are picky about their rides. She replies, well I do not know why.
At this I just got in and left shaking my head. A small crowd had stopped to watch and I thought better that I just leave before somebody thinks I am some kind of hoodlum attacking a lady.
I never yelled but I did speak pointedly to her.
She had no clue whatsoever.
I was just flabbergasted driving away.

A lot of people don't care about/take care of their own stuff. They sure aren't going to care about yours.
Lady let go of a shopping basket in a parking lot with a decent slope. I saw what she did, chased it down and caught it about 10 feet before it creamed the side of a Lambo. When I turned around, she was already backing out. Couldn't have cared less.

Agreed but I was taught to respect others property. In other words keep hands off.
For me it is a long leap to use anothers car as a table.
I understand that I may be out of the bell curve about this kind of thing nevertheless I was still shocked.
I would of gotten ugly if the bag had scratched the deck. Not violent mind you but asking for insurance and getting some eyewitness accounts etc. There were 4 CHP cycles parked nearby too, probably having lunch. I suppose they would of been my move.

As you approached your car and saw the situation you should have hit the horn button on your fob.....maybe she would have had a heart attack....end of problem.

Drifting
Once when I was driving through a parking lot a car pulled into a space & knocked over a very custom cycle , breaking the mirror & gauging the gas tank as the driver tried to back up & leave I pulled behind him & stopped, he just laid on his horn in a panic just as I hoped he would do, a couple minutes later the cycle rider showed up & I drove away with him thanking me, he was pounding on this guys car leaving visible dents in the hood & door, this driver had NO accountability for what he did to that bike, but he got his on that day !!

Some people treat their own cars just as bad. I remember a new Mersedes, $100,000 + variety, the owner plopped his brief case on the hood to get some papers. It left scratch marks, the owner thought nothing of it, just went about his business.

Years ago, when I first got my 2003, a friend and I took the Vette on a golf trip to Atlanta. I came out of the hotel the next morning, hoping to be the first to the car, and there was my buddy with his laptop sitting on the back of my car, merrily typing away. I didn't say a thing but just about had a heart attack.
And since you're probably wondering, he doesn't take particularly good care of his cars. They're not junky, but rarely washed and never waxed. Each to his own, but respect of others' properties should be a given.
