haha good luck with that then. urs must still be in warranty then lol. go visit any big reputable LS shops and see how many dead LS7s they got on the floor and tell me if its internet based hype or not. funny thing is when i sold my stock ls7 short block online i had about 15 ppl wanting it cause there z06 dropped a valve or split a block. they all band wagoners and gossips aswell or are they real life examples of ppls ls7s going splat??? i enjoy driving my z06 too but just cause i own one duznt mean im going to defend GM for shoddy work they did building the engines.

I know where you can get a brand new one so you will know how it was treated.

From all the threads I have read it doesn't really seem to matter if they were rode hard and put away wet or were garage Queen cream puffs.

Are u on crack? Im not talking wiggle test. I'm talking broken engine with cracked pistons n blocks from dropped valves. Why did 10-15 ppl call me bout my short block?? Broken engines not failed wiggle tests. U keep talking in circles and avoiding every fact I bring up. Chev will never let the public know how many ls7 engine were replaced under warranty plus how many were rejected cause they were modified. It woyld destroy the reputation to admitting fault. Like talking to a wall dude. Let me guess...ur ganna ask for the 15 x how many ls7 engines failed??? N ignore everything else said?? i PERSONALLY, not over the net, PERSONALLY kno 3 ppl had replacement engines fitted and i only know im guessing 12-15 ppl with a z06. they all band wangoners making **** up on the net aswell??

For the same money u can get a 2009-2010 or so zr1. Better forged n supercharged motor, better gearbox, better brakes, better everything! Wait a few more months till the new z06 comes out n these will be a lot cheaper again

They did fess up to a certain extent, see post 604:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...firmed-31.html

They have also acknowledged an issue with the rod coatings leading to some 2013 failures.

Sure they could - and should - do more, but maybe what they've done covers it, at least for bone-stock engines, and the problem is being blown out of proportion, who knows.

Yeah I've seen a few bulletins. Valve drop and the ti rod bearing one but they will never tell u exact numbers and how bad it actually is. Bad for business. They know it's a problem as if it was an isolated n rare occurance there wudnt be pressure on em to say anything. Some ppl are so in love with there cars they just go into denial. It's like dating a hoe n u don't wanna believe she's a hoe even tho everyone's telling u she is lol. Me...I'd rather know she's a hoe or my car has longtivity issues then live in denial cause I'm so loved up!

I do not have a Z06. I wanted one badly in 2008 but finances kept me from picking one up at that time. Now I'm happy I went with the base Corvette with the Z51 and LS3. 2 friends both have 08 Z06's. Both do track days but video all there runs. Both have blown engines and GM replaced with no questions asked.

In one case you could hear my buddy coming up to speed coming out of the pit and at ~3500 rpm, BOOM. The dealer figured it dropped a valve but we never heard back from the "GM Investigation of Failure".

My other buddy was driving to the track and heard a metal on metal noise and had his oil pressure drop to zero. He had it towed in and the dealer said the bottom end got oil starved for some reason.

Maybe it's just bad luck but I know 5 guys with Z06's and with 2 having had blown engines, that is not an average I'd be willing to gamble on. Both had less them 20k miles when they went south. YMMV

whats the chances of an ls7 lasting 150000 miles and 15 yrs without a blow up?? that would be reasonable for a reliable engine. plus is should just need rings and bearings threw wear and tear not a full blow up! 10-20% chance is my guess

For what it's worth...I go to my local LS specialist shop often, one of the most reputable in North America, and they don't have any LS7's sitting on their shop floor.

While there is some truth to the issue (I replaced my heads without doing any tests), most of it is amplified greatly by the Internet, and more specifically, these forums.

^^^ This
Just wait to end of extended warranty to maximize chance of covered failure.

The Z06 section has quite a discussion on some of these issues, the OP might want to have a look there as well.
