I would go in and calmly speak to the manager of the dealership. Explain that you know that they were removed after the test drive, and that if they are not replaced ASAP, you will have no choice but to contact the California Attorney General for Consumer Fraud, as well as the Better Business bureau.. Also advise them that you'll bad mouth them on every chevy website you can find..
I bet you get your mats pronto.

I'm with the OP on this as well. If that stuff was there when he test drove the car it should have been there when he bought it.
Years ago I bought a lightly used SUV. It absolutely had a factory cargo cover in the rear hatch when I test drove it. I bought it and got it home and then I realized the next day the cover was not there. I could not see it missing at the dealer due to the factory tinted rear windows.
When I called the dealer they just denied the cover was ever there and said I was mistaken. But that was no GM dealer . . . it was Honda.
Bad dishonest dealers suck . . . . and they ain't all GM.

I am sorry for the bad experience with the dealer, but I really don't think Chevy, the car manufacturer, is responsible. If it was a brand new car, then yes, I would agree.

That would **** me off too! The dealer hired the chit bag who stole your mats, so in my book it's their responsibility to replace them...$200 in mats is a good investment for a dealer who gets a return customer and good word of mouth in return...it's a poor business decision to not replace them for you...their loss in the long run.

Chevy is ultimately responsible for policing their franchises just like McDonalds is except that GM did not care that I was ripped off....McDonalds would have sent people coupons..they do if people complain and in a situation like this would have called the franchisee(owner)....I know Fred Bell knows nothing of my case at scumbag Chevrolet!

Sorry foryour troubles.I would be pissed too.Another rip-off story. My mom went to look at a car which included upgraded rims. When she test drove the vehicle they were on,she looked at them when she got in the car. They made a deal And next day she goes to pick up the car and she notices steel wheels w/hubcaps.She demanded the manager,he said she didn't pay for upgraded rims, she showed him the contract,he said "OH thats a mistake".She tore up the contract and threw it at him.Mom was about 70 when this happened, guess they thought the "old lady" was blind and stupid.

I'd be pissed also BUT I would have checked everything out BEFORE I signed the papers and drove away.

I used to know a guy whose business was doing used car prep for dealers. When he got a car in the first thing he did was clean it out and throw everything away. Even the floormats. He told me it was standard practice none of the dealers cared. Maybe the same attitude exists in the dealers prep area as well. It was just another used car being made to look pretty.

Next time I go to a Chevy dealer I will bring a checklist, floorjack, flashlight and mirror and spend an hour examining every inch before I even consider driving away! I am sure you always do that; but I have only owned maybe 20 cars in my life and never needed it before! My mistake, obviously, and you are the wiser one....and NO, you would have had to have someone guarding the car while you signed the papers as I signed them, THEN noticed they forgot to fill the car with gas that they promised, THEN handed me the car to drive home in heavy traffic...I think 3 people would have helped!
