I made a 12 year old boys whole week.
My wife's friend (Debbie) has a 12 year old son (Billy), she needed someone to pick him up at baseball practice Tuesday afternoon. I volunteered and told her I was taking the Corvette.
I had met them once, and I knew Debbie's husband had passed away four years ago from cancer. I know Billy is having a hard time without his dad.
Back to the story, I pulled into the school and drove to the rear parking lot, my car is nasty sounding, Procharger, Cam, headers, Borla Stingers. The whole practice stopped and everybody looked my way.
I waited for practice to finish and Billy came over put his gear bag in the back, got in the car and off we went. On the way home we did a few hard pulls, we might have broke traction a couple of times and hit some twisties on the back roads. He was a happy camper.
His mother called me later and thanked me a thousand times, he wouldn't stop talking about it etc. I told her anytime, not to thank me, just call and Billy and I can take a blast in the Vette whenever he wants.
The reason I'm even writing this is, on Thursday he went to baseball practice, (according to his mom he is shy and not that popular) everyone on the team, coaches included wanted to know about "that car" who picked him up, how fast it was and on and on. Long story short he became the popular kid overnight and hearing that made my day.
I am going to be picking him up from practice for the rest of the season and we will be going on some weekend blasts in the Corvette. I also told his mom I am his Uncle if anyone asks not just a friend. I just wanted to share my Corvette story and how a car can make a difference in a kids life.

Great story.....love to see kids loving Vette's.
We had a few lookers during our 4th of July ride down Blue Ridge parkway...so we let them climb in for pics.
Pretty sure this MADE THEIR VACATION!!
