Hit - Matching Jetstream Blue Paint
Anyone have bodywork done on a JSB car? How did you paint turn out? Did the body shop do a decent job of matching the paint?
My car was hit (while parked) by a Dodge Ram 4X4 parked next to it when the boneheaded driver pulled out and cut the wheel too tight. Guy came inside and found me, had full insurance coverage and was very apologetic.
The repairs look pretty straight forward and no suspension or wheel damage was done. Had it on a flatbed to to local Chevy dealer that has an excellent body shop.

What is it about Dodge truck drivers? Every time I've had a car hit in a parking lot, 3 times, it;s been by a Dodge truck.
Once in Oklahoma, I was eating at a Braums and looking out the window, I watched a lady back 3/4 of the way across the parking lot into my van. She started to leave. When she saw me run outside and writing down her license number, she stopped and came back. Her comment was, "I just can't see out of this big truck."

While I'm sure the body shop will get it close, you'll and others with a good eye will still be able to see the difference. Having had a jsb 08 that's what scared me the most. An ex member of our club got hit and my new nick name for him was two tone.... the guy who did the body work was a perfectionist, but couldn't get it perfect since its a tri-color paint... Love the color tho... sorry about the car....

sorry to hear, 99% you will see it, but don't forget if you look at other cars it does look like the bumpers are a different colour a little bit, probably something they add so it can flex

Scruff I have a 011 JSB .I bought a front splitter and rear ZRI spoiler from RPI .He matched the JSB paint perfect you cannot tell any difference. You would swear it came from the factory with the parts. If your saying the shop you found is good at paint matching you should have no problem.Good luck on repair.

County Corvette tried 3 times to match front bumper with no luck. They called in a specialist from Dupont who hit it perfect on his first try. Everything is special on JSB, down to custom sized metallic flakes. Don't settle until it matches. It did take 7 weeks [I drove with two tone for about 1/2 the time], but CC stuck with it and never asked for more than the original quote

Don't be surprised if the shop wants to blend the paint into the surrounding panels.
Matching the thin factory clear-coat and orange peel is also a bit difficult.
JSB is a challenge for sure, but a very skilled painter should be able to get the job done right.

Tom Henry Chevrolet of Bakerstown, PA (Pittsburgh) did a top shelf repair and paint job. New GM drivers side fender, bumper and small parts. New paint on front facia, both fenders, doors and mirrors. Paint looks factory new and matches perfectly. Maiden run with new paint on Skyline Drive in VA last weekend.

I bought a factory painted spoiler and it matches perfectly. I had a small scratch fixed and it matches perfectly. when I had the scratch it took a while. They had pre ordered the paint to reduce the time it takes. Then it was defective and had set up in the can. It took 2 weeks to get the replacement. I was told the color must be ordered from the manufacturer that made it for GM. He did not say who that is. He said bad matches come when the shop tries to mix the paint from the code themselves. He said there are tiny difference in the materials that make that not perfect. He said most shops do that and many don't see the difference but its not right. Also the paint looks different form different angles so it looks unmatched in some lights on the original paint at some angles. But I have seen a JSB that was fixed with the wrong paint and you can tell. As mentioned the metallic looks different for one thing. I was told both the base and tint coat are special. If you look at my car you won't be able to find the spot.

Tom Henry is top notch. Love the guys who work there. Had my eforce, pfadt headers & suspension, ZR1 splitter & skirts. They had to paint my full length spoiler Carlisle Blue and it matches perfectly as was the install.
Glad they came through for you.
